Just ordered the Infiniti OEM spoiler from Burtman, he said it mounts with 2 bolts, was wondering if anyone has actually mounted this with 3m tape? I'd much rather do it this way....

Hello Mikey:

I added my OEM spoiler, it required 4 bolts if i'm not mistaken. I would take your climate conditions into consideration. I know they're come along way with glue/tape, but i'm sure you'd hate to go over a bumpy road and have your spolier come off, or going through a car wash....but thats my opinion.

Well, I'm pretty confident in the tapes ability to hold if I use the correct tape, however I'm not sure about the actual surface of the OEM spoiler if it's flat/close enough to actually work and not have any space. Did you mount yours yourself? How was it? did they provide drilling template? and do you need to remove anything on the trunk side such as liners etc?

I bought my spoiler from Burtman and mounted it using the 3m tape provided and have gone through the car wash 3 times with no problems. Normally I would wash my car myself, but we have been in a total outdoor water ban since Sept. '07 and I don't want to pay the fines if caught by the water police.

What year is your car? He had 3 different ones for the 08s he sent me pics of them all, I would up going with the Infiniti OEM one, just bought it from him, its not the one he sells that sticks on, it bolts on. I'm just thinking if its in the size/weight range of the stick-on one he sells I should still be able to mount it with 3m tape, just not sure

A little off topic but AtlM if you want to hand wash your car yourself the "do-it-yourself" car wash bays with the pressure hoses are still allowed to operate. There is a car wash on Old Norcross near the intersection of Oakland Road that has three bays and there is one on Lawrencevill Hwy between Oakland Road and Huff Road in the shopping center that has two bays.....
