Well it seems like a lot of people are talking about getting HIDs and so I thought id join the others in asking. I just got my HID kit installed, but im not really liking where I had to put my ballasts. So I was wondering if you guys could post pics or tell me where you mounted and secured your ballasts.

I, for the time being, mounted my left one (passenger side), to the negative lead that bolts to the body, to the left of the battery. The right one (drivers side) was the hardest one to find a good mount spot. So for the time being I have it mounted to the side of my coolant tank where Nissan randomly put a piece of plastic sticking off to the side with a hole already in it. The only thing I dont like about this mount spot is that any pieces that might fly into my grille could possibly hit and damage the ballast. Plus it doesn't look really good when you look at the grille and right behind it you see "ADVANCED GERMAN TECHNOLOGY, HID KIT"

Thanks!

if it is possible, you can wrap your ballast with some black electrical tape or a black balloon, if it will fit around the wires. I'm not sure if the ballasts get too hot for any of that stuff, but its worth a try.

other options are getting some black styrofoam, plactic or other material and make a cage for the ballast.

Also, velcro can do wonders.

I was gonna suggest Velcroing them to the top of the passenger side relay box.

heres how mine are done, using only zipties, and double sided tape on the 2 lower ones for it to be more secure to the black metal mount that its in.

Passenger side for headlight:

( Engine bay is dirty, giving it a good cleaning in the spring/summer )

Drivers side for headlight:

Passenger side foglight ( this is located behind the black foglight grill )

Drivers side foglight ( once again this is located behind the black foglight grill and foglight ) also you can see the airbox mod i posted before.

hope that helps.

In this pic I had ballasts mounted here and they always seem to fail. I believe that the silver resistor directly behind the ballast was the cause it does get very hot and may have contributed to overheating the ballast

I actually used screws to mount my ballasts in the PF.

If you look at miami's first pic, further back, you'll see the relay box and next to it on the fender are a couple of holes... well, the two smaller holes were a match to the screws that came with the mounting bracket. So that ballast ended up with the wires sticking upwards. Leaving a LOT of room open next to the battery for all the excess wires.

In the second pic, there are two similar holes nearby, and that ballast ended up with the wires sticking forward.

Would cutting resonator result in the same cold air as removing and installing a pipe

its close enough i guess, all i know is before i cut it, it had hestaition when you smashed the pedal cause it was really restricted, now when you smash it, it pulls noticably better, and with ease compared to before,

so i know one thing for sure, it does improve your acceleration, and passing and responsiveness.

I put mine in the same spots, between battery and fender, and between airbox and fender. I ended up removing the battery and airbox and drilled self tapping bolts into the fender and installed the supplied ballast mounts I had, their in there pretty solid, just an idea if you want that extra toughness.
