okay so this isnt 240 related, but WOW.

I just got back from a weekend with my friends downhill mountian biking on Mt. Killington in Vermont.... It was seriously so much fun, I'm still thinking about all those hills, crusing at like 35mph and hitting huge jumps, super sweet singletrack... ahhh that was the best weekend I've had in a really really long time.

I've youve never tried it and you're in the area YOU NEED TO DO THIS. None of us had any real experience mountian biking (we rented their top-notch $2000 dollar rental bikes), and we had a friggin BALL. Seriously, do it do it do it.

These are the bikes they were renting (same color and everything). Jamis Dakar XLT. Mountian Bike mag's #1 bike for 2003. These guys cut no corners, and you can tell.

(Btw lazy people: there is a gondola to take you to the top of the moutian, so it's just straight riding all day... hardly any of that uphill garbage lol)

I don't like full suspension bikes, sucks out too much power when going up hill. I wish I had disc brakes though, but they are unnecesary. Oh ya, thats a **** lot of travel in that front fork, yum.

yeahhhh but goin down these trails you'll be glad for all 5 inches of that travel. Seriously we were hopping off of 4 foot ledges and landing light and soft as hell.. totally amazing.

Yeah I've got some awesome pics but they're on a disposable (didnt wanna fall and break my nice digi :( ), so I gotta develop em first... Ill post.

Whoa, disc brakes. I don't know s-t about bikes, but mine has a flat tire, and those are disc brakes, so they must be cool.

yeah and just like the suspension, you'll NEED it. the trails are 5+ miles down each... regular pads would turn to butter well before you got to the bottom safely... lol I'm tellin ya, this aint no joke!

EDIT: haha just to illustrate it: the disc brakes were SMOKING when we got to the bottom. S M O K I N G.

ah it was kinda steep (lol get it? steep? mountian?! ... ohhh boy), it was like $45 to rent the bike all day and then another $30 something for the lift ticket. Almost an $80 day, but if I'm still talking about it like this 2 days later, it was definetly worth it.

No s*** man!!! Dude we stayed over in Rutland, at the Best Western near the Meldin Country Store!! Damn man I wish I knew about that! Hahah we even went to Pico too and did the alpine slides! hahahah maaaan

We're definetly going to do it again, it impressed us enough that we're planning another trip in the next couple weeks. I'll definetly let you know when it's gonna be!

No doubt!!!

Let me know when. If it's not TOOOO many people we can stay at my parents house (FOR FREE!!!) If it is a bunch of people we can throw tents up on their land OR..... I grew up here and there are PLENTY of killer out door party spots we can camp at. No sense paying to stay somewhere when you're just gonna drink all night anyway!!!

I'm about to head back to Maine in a few minutes... I'll snap some digi pics of killington as I go by. Although... it is night time and dark out... so you won't see the mountains anyway... oh well.

NICE! I talked to my friends today and we sent a tentative date to go up again on Monday, Aug. 25th. Not sure how many people right now, but it should be somewhere like 4 or 5. No big deal about your rent's house - I appreciate the offer - we were gonna just drive back afterwards anyways..... although camping + drinking does sound like a pretty sweet idea... Get back to me!
