OK, since I have bought my Rogue, I have only been in the Tar-heel land of Raleigh! This past weekend, I drove out to the Smokie Mountains. WOW, I really like this transmission, as compared to standard autos. Usually, I have to manually shift in and out of gears, for better driving through the ups and downs of hilly terrains. Most of the times it is a jerky feeling. The way this motor and CVT worked, it was great. No more transmission jerks, as it tries to get the gear ratio correct. Along with my lead foot :ohno: I am surprised I didn't get a ticket. It was a constant smooth acceleration and deceleration.

I really liked how the engine revved up, without the jerkiness of an average automatic. It was a great experience, one that a regular automatic can't compare with. I also got a 26.5 MPG actual in the whole trip. Which, given the weight I was driving and the terrain, I think was great.

I get the same feeling every time I drive the wife's car with a conventional auto...

Gear changes? Shift shock? What's up with that?

The CVT is far better at selecting the correct gear ratio. I would go so far to say that a conventional auto with gears now feels unnatural... well at least one with 5 speeds or less. Some of the new 7spd auto's are very smooth,
