Alright, I searched and didn't find exactly what I was looking for, so I'm asking!

I'm using the stock R33 X-Member and I know there are clearance issues with the stock Intake Manifold and other pieces. I removed the stock aluminum engine mounts (that bolt to the block and rest on the motor mount) and I am fabricating some steel replacements ala Quoc (RB25 240Z) ( square tube steel with angled cuts and plates welded on ends) but I need to know how much to move them. I was assuming to drop the engine down about 1-2" and then thought about moving it rearward as well, but am unsure of that.

What I need to know is, how far down can / should I go and should I attempt to relocate the engine rearward (closer to the center of the car). *doubtful* I don't want to be installing a pair of engine mounts and try to install the motor and find out I have to remove and re-create a pair of mounts and test again.

Thanks.

*edit* Apparently Quoc's site is down now, I should have saved the pics of what I am talking about to avoid any confusion. I can draw it up in CAD pretty quickly.

What you need is to have someone measure how much space you have under the motor and how much between the firewall and the motor. Then you can design your mounts. If I were you I'd do it yourself.Just so if there are any mistakes its nobodys fault but your own.

This is what I did--I set the RB in the engine bay-(took about 2-3 hours) to get the engine situated at all the right angles and set back as far in the bay as possible --then I put the stock crossmember in the chassis and fabbed the crossmember to the RB's mounts--allot of cutting and welding but it is a crap ton more solid then the mckinney or top hat version and it solved all the clearance issues. I can post a pic if your interested.
