The really liked the car and it did very well for the 28,000 miles they had it for.

The thing that impressed me most was over 28,000 miles they averaged 19.2 mpg on the 2002 Q and on a previous long term test the 2001 Camry V6 averaged 20.8 mpg.

This [19.2] is almost exactly what my Q has averaged over the last 238,000 miles.....what you would expect from the same displacement engine coupled to the same effective gear / tire ratios with the same weight car....give or take a few hundred.

You might get a better deal buying one new.

Last dealer I visited said price was down to $46K on base model (newspaper ad for another dealer said $6K off). May drop more if the '02s are still on the lot when the '03s show up.

I do remember the '01 model having ads for $12K off sticker... but not sure what actual price was.

I'm sure given time these latest Q's will be bargains just like our 1st Gens. But I am wary of the level of complexity of this latest Q. This may very well be what drives their prices down. God only knows what expen$ive repairs this one will need! - Time will tell... - I'm not a huge fan of the styling - definintely better than 2nd Gen but I don't care for the heavy handed front end. That being said I'd still LOVE to have one!

Yep, I'd be worried buying one without an extended warranty which will get me through the payments, at least.

I bet the center dash unit with the display screen will probably be sold as one part.... But I guess there are a lot of cars with NAV systems... good idea to see how those hold up with time.

Reliability shouldn't be a problem as the standards within production have been significantly raised. However, I always reccomend the most extensive warranty possible.
