My daughters 1992 240sx is smoking when it gets warm. When you take off from a stop it leaves a cloud then clears up. It always had a small puffy of smoke when it shifted through the gears (automatic), but it has gotten worse. I have seen Auctions that said that the 93-01 altima and 98-04 fronteirs use the same ka24de. Can anyone confirm this???

Also can the motor and transmission be pulled together or do they need to come out seperate?

Welcome to NICO!:jazz:

I am not one of the resident experts but I'll start to say thatthe Altima KA24's are transverse versions so no easy swap.I dont know how the frontiers are set-up.

You should be able to find KA24's out of 240SX's for not too much $$ if you shop around.Due to the recent craze of swapping out the stock engine with SR'20DET's (and others) you should be able to find a junk yard thats crawling with these engines and ready to deal.

the 2 engines are different. just look at the distributor location. your not gonna shove a distributor in the back of the head on the frontier like it is on the altima. The basic casting MAY be the same but the intake, exhaust ,and most external components are all different including the front covers.
