Anybody here a subject matter expert? I have a V3i, and the thing went crazy today. It starts going through menus, settings and stuff on it's own. The keyboard is non-responsive. I hate this thing. Before I chuck it or take it someplace for repair, has anybody had this experience before and can the repair be done at home? Yes, I did my search. Thanks!

Sorry, no real idea!

Have you tried the obvious things? Like completely removing the battery from the unit, letting it sit for a few minutes and then plugging it back in? Is there is a hard-reset pin button on it somewhere that you can press?

Yeah, I did that to no avail. I read on some other sites that this is a known problem. I think what happened is that sweat or moisture gets in between the keyboard and the body and things start shorting out. I guess it's a bad design. Tech write-ups mention Torx tools to use on these phones. I guess I should go out and buy a set and take the thing apart and clean it and see what happens.

Yeah! Or take a high-pressure air gun or, better yet, an electronic spray cleaner (dries clean) and do the keyboard thoroughly.

Motorola phones are absolute trash. Like Z said, a hard reset is going to be one of your courses of action.
