I have the 5/16" Copper Iso Thermal spacer which is more for areas where it gets really cold. I did the install myself following their instructions and it wasn't all that bad.

I tried to take a video of the install and only got some of it (battery died lol), but here it is:

As for the results...I don't know if it was anything that was truly felt but it did seem like the car rev'ed better/more freely, etc. It definitely added a bit of tone to the exhaust.

As for your CAI, please get rid of it. Most if not all CAI's are a waste of money. They pull in hot air which makes them worse for your car, not better. Get a Z-Tube intake (google it) and you'll be much happier I think.

IilyaKol, why did you remove the entire airbox?

When I did the spacer I just took the hose off the TB and removed the TB then took the top of the plenum off. I didn't actually remove the upper plenum itself because I didn't want to install the TB coolant circumventing adapter and didn't want to deal with air in the coolant lines so I held the upper plenum up and out of the way using the mesh pocket from the trunk. Latched one side to the hood strut and the other to the drivers windshield wiper.

BTW this is the optimum opportunity to have your lower plenum ported and polished. You can do it yourself if you feel confident and are handy or have it done at a shop. I did it using a 60 grit sanding wheel

Then a 180 grit sanding wheel
then a nylon brush polishing wheel

If you have the patience and time this entire lower plenum should take you roughly 3-4 hours. I only took enough of the material off to make the runners nice and smooth all the way through. I haven't dyno'd my work but my butt tells me a few HP at the wheels with the port/polish and plenum spacer. Plus after you finish the install and reset the TB, idle and ECU you may notice a much quieter idle. It's so quite for me now that I can't tell if the engine is on from the inside.

I removed it because it only takes a minute to do and because it gives a lot more room to work with. You have to disconnect the intake from the upper intake manifold anyway, so why leave it in there to get in the way when you are trying to get to various hoses, etc. in the back?

I don't know, just seemed easier to me that way.

Also, I would not recommend removing the TB off the plenum...you are liable to mess up the idle on the car and have to go through additional steps to relearn the idle, etc. There is an adjustment on the TB that if thrown off can be quite a bit of work to get it just right again.

I guess I was lazy haha. I concur if you don't have to remove the TB then don't. When I did it I removed the wiring harness, unbolted it and placed it beside the car in a very safe place. Do not play around with the TB by moving the enticing butterfly. I know it's a neat little toy to play with but just don't haha.

Although performing the idle reset, TB relearn and ECU reset may be worth it in any case. As I said before the install my engine was rough idling and I doubt the spacer or port/polish corrected that.

I agree with Ilya... Z tube is beneficial while keeping the stock air box. I have it along with a K&N drop in filter, plus the MD spacer, MREV2 (lower plenum that's modified) for my 'intake mods'.... Really makes a difference once you get tuned.... You don't wanna run lean for too long...
