Yep, that's the one.

For some reason I really like them, always have. I remember staring at one that was parked when I was a kid. It looked like something out of Star Trek.

EDIT:

While we're on the subject, here's some other bikes I'd love to own.

Honda NC30:

Suzuku RE5 Rotary-engined bike:

Honda CX500TC Turbo (just for neato factor, but it's kinda ugly):

Honda GB500 Tourist Trophy:

haha water buffalo!

they're neat...I haven't really looked into them though.

the GS was just one of the most reliable bikes ever built.

and is still a formidable motor when built for drag racing.

Yep. The day I traded my CRX for this:

My prior bikes, in order:

Don't laugh, I learned to ride on this:

Swapped that for this, and instantly started modding it... Drag bars, longer swingarm, bigger rear tire, carb work...

Bought this on a whim and promptly buried it in the side of a Buick at 45mph... Damn near killed me.

Roommate's bike, bought it and sold it back to him.

I like Elites, lol.

They're cool in a wacky 80's way.

EDIT: This is the 250R I was on yesterday, both alone with with the Ruckus:

The first time I rode my dirt bike, I about died (not literally). It was a freggin blast and it hauls SO much ***. Having what felt like 3 power bands to me was insanely cool.

I'm at the point right now that I want a bike, but I'm unsure how willing I am to take that fall when it comes.

Some questions for the bike gurus (to persuade or dissuade me)-I drive 32 miles each way to work, it is 98% highway. I don't want nor have a need to haul balls on the road, but I do want something that will get me decent mileage for the ride and will be quick enough to have fun with on the on ramp. I'd like to do weekend rides in the mountains and a cruise through the city when its dead. A very recreational thing. Ideally, I'd like something of a James Dean nature. Like these:

I also like the bike in this video, but have NO idea what it is...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nOq3k0G-IE

If I ever got a sport bike, it'd be a small engine Triumph, but its highly unlikely that I'd EVER get a sport bike- I just have no need for it. I don't know what any of those bikes are, but thats the style I'm shooting for. Can you guys give me some pros, cons, and thoughts on a bike suitable for me?

^^Yeah, the original one, not the chopper.

I think it looks good, although I don't know much about Bonnie prices. Make sure it's a good price first, and make sure the bike is A-OK.

^^Yeah, the Rebel is only 250cc and only costs about $3500 brand new, so used ones are cheap.

It'd be a fun bike to do a bobber conversion on, but methinks you need a cafe racer.

Maybe go pick up an old Honda CB. CB350, CB400, CB750, etc.

What the hell is a bobber? I keep seeing that written, but don't know what that is. Urban dictionary has been no help.

I'm guessing urban dictionary said something about a slut that gives lots of BJs when you looked up bobber.

I would think the rebel would be plenty of bike for you. You don't want to haul *** (it maxes out at like, 80 I think), and want good gas mileage (60-80 MPG?). Plus, its CHEAP!

These are bobbers:

These are cafe racers:

A cafe is more like a modern street fighter, whereas a bobber is more chopper-esque, IMO.

Usually I think Bobber = Ape Hangers, but you can do them with clip-ons or other kinds of bars too, as the pic above illustrates.

yeah, a bobber is meant for more of a cruising position.

I need to find an old UJM for less than a grand and make a budget cafe out of it.

it'll probably get a flat black paintjob. cuz I'm cheap

They're certainly not bad bikes. But if you already know how to ride and are comfortable on a bike, you'll regret buying a 250cc cruiser. Rebels are REALLY SMALL. They're also really torqueless. You'll outgrow it in a hurry. If you're comfortable on your dirtbike, you should go for a mid-size cruiser...something around 750 or 1000ccs. 250 is way too small for an experienced rider. They're squid bikes...light, low, and gutless.

Of course, you'll also probably be able to re-sell a Rebel for what you paid for it, so no real loss when you do outgrow it.

Based on the comments you've made here's a few suggestions

Yamaha Virago - early to mid-80's era. You should be able to find something for <$2k that's been well cared for, but not restored. This is an 1100, but they also made ~700 cc one that looked very similar

Honda V45 or V65 Manga - early to mid-80's era. You should be able to find something for <$2.5k that's been well cared for, but not restored. This is the V65, but they look alike.

I'll see if I can come up with a few other suggestions.

In your part of the world (North East) this is the time to buy. People are starting to getting the Christmas bills and will start selling "toys" to pay off the debt.
