Ok. I had a tapping noise under the valve cover so i pulled all the cams and lifters etc out to look for warring on them. After completely dumping all the oil in the system by removing the oilpan. I put it all back together and accidently set the timing on the top end right without having the crank TDC. The car was trying to start but would just backfire. After pulling the head back apart and fixing the timing, by aligning the motor to TDC and then the cams silver link and putting it all back together, now all the motor does is try to start, but doesnt catch. Sort of like a dead battery, but i had two vehicles hooked up to it with jumper cables at the same time, and that didnt make a difference. Volt meter on turbo timer is at 13.8 with both vehicls hooked up. I really need some help here guys let me know. Thanks

sounds like ignition timing. Especially the backfiring.

I had a similar issue happen when I replaced the timing chain. I put it all back together properly, but the CAS was 180 degrees out, even though I had installed it by the book. I pulled the CAS, turned it around 180 degrees and shoved it back in. Car started up.

This does, however, require you to pull the CAS about a hundred times. You need to search for the sweet spot that allows you to rotate it properly when setting timing. Otherwise, you'll encounter one of the mounting bolts and can't go any further when trying to get it back into timing. I found it easiest to leave the valve cover off for this operation. You won't squirt oil all over the place, so you'll be fine.
