I am trying to get me KA24E-T running with Megasquirt but suddenly the damn thing will not crank. It was cranking just fine and my battery and wiring is good. I do hear a click when I turn the key but asside from that, nothing except some weird noise from the dash.

Any idea what this could be?

Checked your starter signal fuse/wire?

We need some more info man. Does the electrical in the car work? 12 volts tested on the battery? What were the circumstances under which it stopped working?

This problem has nothing to do with ms. Wellll unless you factor in that getting megasquirt tuned DESTROYS starters, lol.

hey it doesn't count as having killed mine. My starter solenoid died, not the actual starter motor.

+1 for the starter fuse, check the relay. Whatever else might be linked off of that. Just don't give up. We'll get beat this eventually!!

I have not checked the starter fuse but I will.

I have been having the problem intermitently since installing MS. Sometimes it cranks effortlessly while other times it behaves as if the motor is siezed. It sure seems electronic in nature more than anything else. Like the MS is freaking out the stock ECU and it is dissabling the starter circuit somehow.

I suspect this because the problem always accompanies a MS reflash. It has never done this otherwise.

Prolly just be the starter solenoid. On my 95 it used to do that intermittent start. Sometimes it fired up on the first try...others I would have to turn the key several times. It would just click and not turn the starter. Tested out a used starter that my friend had and it was better for a little bit. Then it started doing the same thing. So i broke down and bought a new one. havent had a prblem in a year and a half.

Tried it again today after a good battery charge. Never heard this noise before and solenoid started clicking. Sounded like a dying cat. I have replaced the damn starter twice. This one has hardly been used. Fing BS!

i thought you were going full standalone? If your piggybacking with megasquirt first try unhooking it. Then you can rule megasquirt out of the question because it should crank properly, just not have any fuel and not fire.If it still does this with megasquirt unplugged you've got wiring/relay gremlins.

Spark and fuel are controled by MS. The stock ECU is still there wired into everything else for the time being. I need it to control things like AC and what not.

I am going to pull the starter. I bet there was a catastrophic failure from kickbacks and the motor is siezed.

I thought I'd start this thread up again....

I'm having the same problem with the no start. I have 12 volts from the battery, and power going to the starter; but still just a click and nothing. Grounds are seemingly good and the starter had no problems testing at AutoZone.

Via Chilton's it's the fuse or fuseable link. What's the wire and connection coming off the starter solenoid? Where are the fuses cause all the ones in my fuse box are fine?

Thanks

If its clicking that means your getting starter signal. Either means your battery is dead or your starter is bad.

It just clicks once, the first time I turn the key. After that, it's silent. ...Starter relay?

Could be the relay, i mean if youv checked your starter and you know the batteries good then thats really all it could be.

First things first though, i would try to directly jump the starter to see if it will spin the motor. Take a wire from your positive terminal on the battery and tap it against the starter lead terminal. If your motor cranks then its your relay. If it doesnt, then its your starter.

Starter relay it was!!! $25 for the part, 2 seconds for the install and it cranked up on the first turn!!! Sweet.

Thanks to all who gave insight. It's really appreciated!
