I'm looking into what engine i would like to put in my 240

out of the S13, S14, S15 SR20DET and the skyline RBs what are some ups and downs to all the four types. What do i benefit and what do i lose per engine. I want to gauge gains and losses to buy perfect engine

buy you a good condition motor and you should be fine.. the ups for the s14 and s15 SR (pretty much the same) is you can boost higher because of the bigger injectors and turbo compared to the s13 SR.. like around 17 psi with fmic of course. s15 SR comes with 6 spd and Ball bearing t28 for quicker spool. if you want more than 450hp, it's easier to mod a s13 SR.

btw: s14 and s15 has variable valve timing on the intake side.. we got VTEC? haha

with the s15 sr, you have to run the rear helical-diff housing, as the speed sensor is located there. or something like that. that is, of course, if you want to run the s15 6sp mission.

with all of your choices, there are going to be some drawbacks. *shrugs*

good luck

so S13's have greater potential but require more modifications and the s15 has less potential with less needed mods.

but what about the RB20DET? how does it range on potential and how far can it be pushed

what about fuel econ? who wins? what are the numbers?

is RB20DET I6 b /c i belive it is just verifying

thanks

yes RB's are a straight six. REALLY torquey and the most hp 'out of the box' but is the most difficult to install. I believe to fit it in the engine bay of a 240 the procedure consists of swapping out the front subframe as well. It's also about 150lbs heavier than an SR so that may throw off some handling charactaristics if you push it in an S13 chassis. but damn that motor sounds amazing. It would feel smoother (less vibration and harshness) than an SR too.

You should figure out which motor is better in your price range. Get the RB26 if you've got deep pockets.
