i have a 1992 q45 i am looking to replace the motor i have heard only 1989 thru 1992 motor will fit now ive heard 1997 will fit what is really the answer. my car is rear wheel drive 4 wheel suspensio0n my engine code is vh45de someone please tell me what years q45 will fit in my 1992.

cheaper and less headache to just junk the current car and look for another with a good powertrain

Because a quality 90-93 JDM will cost $1,000 + shipping, new chain guides , new knock sensors and harness and all new hoses, water pump front and rear mains , new motor mounts will add $1,500, then $2,000 in swap and internal rehab labor.A quality job designed to last 100k+ will cost you $4500.If you spend less upfront but more in the long run if you skip any of the above.

the 94-96 will require creative harness redesign, and 97-01 have starter on wrong side and a dozen other problems in fittting to transmission and motor mounts etc etc a real nightmare. new ecu harness .

My 90 engine has 317,000 miles with as buit everything except new guides done in 1997 at 100k................what did you do to trash yours.

Usual cause other than guide failure is not doing 16 years x 4 oil changes!
