Sorry im late to the party OP, ok hope you havent changed your mind and bidded to the max on that ebay auction for them barbie dolls INCLUDING Ken i found you looking at thru some crazy technical computer inside stuff.

Ok check it out, NICO delievers to you so just sit back with your money and let me do everything for you.

Ok first you need to make sure you have enuff beer to even start thinking about doing anything car related, you might had heard different but come on, you came here for answers because we are the people that give them to you. Google? yea, We are googles mentors, we guide them, never blocking just guiding. Friends? you feel it? yea, not like your homeboy that blocks your uncircumsized shlong everytime you guys drive past a feild filled with lusting mammals that are meant to be raised and killed. Cow lover? thats gross but W/E.

Look, Rb's are HOTT. Ever heard of Rebecca Black? Yea, its meant that way. Rb's are for firefilled pedophiles that like s*** that doesnt make sense to society and your not quite there yet. Think back to last year, s*** doesnt add up. Lets take a different approach at this.Your a greenhorn as my gramps would say and you need to try a honda for a while. The Torque steer will give you knowledge that everyone here holds. This knowledge gives you innerstrength on being capable of making decisions on choices and also the insight on how to ask questions properly that will attract the intrest of others.Back the future, Choices that are so complex that google cant even answer them for you and im positive on thats why you came here, skipped the INTRODUCTION thread and poured your soul out into your 1st wimpy pathetic post about should i be sucking the D or getting my D sucked. There is an RB thread in this forum, its just for Rb related questions. Tons of firefilled pedophiles are they awaiting fresh meat to give people like you the buisness, everything you have been waiting for, THE ANSWERS!!!!! Its a shot. I mean what else are you going to do huh? do some research on each motor :rotflmao and feel em out on which one is your favorite?? yea right, who does that these days. GLWS wish i was 5-LUG

You have way to much time on your hands smart a**. If your not going to help dont post or at least make your post half a** informational and helpful...

To the op. search this forum is full of lots of really good info on swaps and pretty much everything you need to know. If your only looking for 350 as a long term goal rb20 is your best bet. Cheeper and a easer swap in the long run.

But i really dont like any rb so i say ka-t!

1. Save more money. A full turn key swap for either motor will cost you more than $5k.

2. RB20 is crap. Yes it puts out decent power... but it has 6 cylinders in 2 liters.. that's more maintenance items and less room for error. It you really want an RB, get an RB25.

3. If you want all of the awesome of an RB, but much lower costs, Get a CA18DET, sounds awesome, iron block, light, can easily hit your power goals and then some.

4. If you want a tried and true option that will make that kind of power, get an SR20, simple, cost effective, works.

5. If you are a hipster, rebuild your KA to factory specs, and bolt a turbo to it, get some management, and KA-T it up. Same power potential, and possibly much cheaper than any swap. Bonus points if turbo KA-ET.

Full disclosure:

Im putting in my SR in the next week or 2. My power goals for stage 1 are only 275, as that will be a lot of power in such a small car, and a huge jump from the tired old ka-e i had. Once i can drive consistently with the first increase of power, i will move on to 300-325. Then on to 350-375, wont ever need more power than this for any HPDE or Auto-x. Even then, with this kind of power, turbo lag will be a given.

If you really like the RB series engines, I'd suggest you save up a lot more than 5k. Those engines can be very expensive and temperamental. I'd start off with a KA, build it, then turbo it with a good engine management system. Which ever engine you decide to go with I would look at building it so it will last you a long time. These engines are going on the 20+ year old mark.
