hey i have a 93 s13 coupe my first car and its all stock and been looking up stuff and doing some research and mostly everybody goes with a sr20 swap and sum do a rb swap. Now the only problem is idk which motor should i get and i know everything bout the 240 but should i go for a sr20 redtop and get bigger turbo cp pistons walboro fuel pump nismo mounts greddy intake manifold and 550cc injectors. also should i get a rb25det and build that up too and would have to get the mount kit from mckinney and stuff etc and the first owner of my 240 wanted to do a 2jzgte swap. i talked to this dude whos really famous and he did a 2jz swap in his s13 and told me his story when he got his and 2jz kills rb26. parts are availiable anywhere and so are the sr20det parts because its the easiest swap but could yall tell me which would be best so i wont have to have a hard time building one of these motors and i know a sr20 wont be able to keep up with certain cars. I can also get one of thse motors from the jdm warehouse in new jersey cuz thats where i live i can get a sr20 with ecu transmission wireharness and maf all for $1,600 and a rb25 for 1700 and 2jz i think is 1900 or 2100 with a auto transmission and stuff bout would have to get a 1jz transmission and bellhousing so which would be best.

They are all different and have different goods and bads. It all comes down to personal goals and expectations from the swap. I was pretty decided on an rb25 but as of late I am leaning very hard towards ka-t or sr.

Whichever swap you can afford is the best swap.

ya i could either get a sr20det and make that into a strong motor and i know everything im gonna get for that and i can prob swap the motor myself or get a rb25 and leave it stock for now until i wanna add more parts to it but im gonna want something fast that i get more power at top end but the thing is with rb motors is the aftermarket and just regular parts around the usa doesnt really have that much stuff and gonna mostly have to order everything online and the sr im not gonna have a problem with

Bro, we don't like threads asking stupid questions. It is ur opinion and ur cash. I'm trying to decide between the RB25 or the SR, but i'm not asking question. All of the motors you mentioned are great. And they all have there downsides. Go with an RB30 and rape a 2jz cuz it sounds like you got some big bucks.

blazin, im going to help you. first things first, take your budget into account...then figure in engine cost for each motorset. then time and or money for wiring. then figure in for all the bits and pieces that go along with it, now double that.
you should have already worked the list down and please know that the information you have in the first post is straight silly.

neither one "kills" the other its how you build them, both are capable of astronomical hp numbers. so that famous guy...is biased and his comment isnt based on fact.

wrong. its the diff between stock and built on both counts. a simple built sr20det is capable enough...and they have been built to insane levels over the years. so throw that mentality out the window right now.

now, i will give you some advice...dont bother with an rb20...yeah its a turbo straight 6 and its cool. but why bother when an sr can do the same thing and easier to get parts and tech help with.
if you are hell bent on an rb, stick with the rb25.
if i were you i would rebuild the stock KA for boost and go from there, if you are bent on a swap go with an sr20det.

^^ Agreed x412.

Blazin, I agree with pj in that if your planning to build an SR20 making around 350-450 (B?)(RW?)HP I'd expect to spend a bit more than you'd expect. For example, I've researched for about 2 years different motors and setups for my 1993 coupe, and decided on a CA18DET for various reasons. When I first mapped out my budget, I calculated for a full rebuild, swap, upgrades, and a goal of around 300 rwhp I think it came out to around $5700, but I've saved up an extra $1500 for wiggle room to do it right.

On another note, since you seem like your dead set on gainin' lotsa horsepowers so you can stomp some hoes, or whatever they say these days, please at the very least take your time and do it right so that we don't have another scrapped/blown SR20 project on craiglist...

yeah im not gonna rush building up the motor im getting stuff one at a time i was gonna keep the sr20 all stock and use the side mount intercooler. Then test out the motor and see how it runs and if theres any problems and if its all ok and everything then il start getting stuff for it
