I recently decided to clean my engine so I sprayed some simple green over the whole engine bay and then rinsed it down with water.. Nothing to extreme just normal pressure water.. My question is what should I check or dry out to make my engine run better? At the moment it shakes heavily and wont even get up to any speed.

If it will idle and not bog out and die, let it do that for a while. Something probably is still wet and needs to be dried out. IF the engine can get up to operating temperature and stay there for a bit it'll dry itself. IF you've already done that and everything is dry, you might have done something bad. I'm sorry, I can't even begin to guess what exactly. I've never washed my engine :/

Open the hood and sit the car in the sun for a day or two.

I mean it can be just about anything, from something as simple as your spark missing the plug and grounding out through the water/head. It could be a few other things too, just wait a day or two till it drys out and try it again.

I did this yesterday..If you give it gas does it work fine?

Mine wouldn't start at first, then after a couple of tries it would start and not idle, but if I gave it gas it would be OK so I just took it for a quick spin around the block and didn't let it idle and when I got back it it ideled fine.

If you are in a hurry try taking off the cap/rotor and clean it.Or like the one guy said just pop the hood and park it in the sun for a few hours.
