K, I got a KA24DE, and the other night on my way to the LA auto show, something happened, and the car started running like ***. So we towed it home, got it off the trailer, and it started running fine. I pulled it in my driveway and left it overnight.

Worked on it today, replaced the distributer rotor, cap, and spark plugs. Runs ok, but makes a ticking noise. We opened the oil cap, it got louder. Then we checked the timing, it seems to jump a little bit.

We're thinking its the timing chain, any thoughts before I take it in to the dealer and get "suprise sexed" ("rape" is not politically correct, so we say "suprise sex" now) over the work?

did you ever have the useless upper timing chain tensoner removed? it could have broken off and maybe become cought in the chain for a bit? or one of the other tensioners could had broken if the chain is jumping around. you might have better luck posting in the technical section

if its ticking its likely to be lifters or rocker arms.

Just remove the valve cover and take a flashlight and look. The valve cover is easy to take on/off.

altiman, there are no rockers on a ka24de, the single and dual have different valve trains
