Hello to all.I have a 1990 Nissan 240 SX. One day back in December, when I tried to start my car, it turned on for about 10 seconds then it died down. It didn't want to start again. I sensed a smell like something was burning.I took it to a mechanic, who replaced the starter, the computer (the reason for the burning smell...), and the timing chain. However, now the motor is overheating. The mechanic explained that the overheating is not from the cooling system, but that something, a sensor or a wire is telling the computer to send more gas than it should. So, by the manifold part of the motor, by the spark plugs, it's overheating. Mechanic doesn't know what it is. He doesn't recommend driving the car not even two blocks away fearing it might go into flames....We took it to the dealer and they recommended replacing the whole wiring harness of the car, mentioning that if a sensor or wire is making the computer send more gas than it should is better to replace the whole wiring harness. Another mechanic mentioned that it could be a timing problem, that timing hasn't been synchronized correctly.
But, if the mechanic replaced the timing chain, he should have had to time it correctly, right? Could it be a sensor, faulty wire? Maybe computer is not the one the car needs?
Can someone help me, please?
