im thinking of starting my own 240sx project. i dont have a large budget to work with but from the info i get on the forums here it doesnt sound like its too far out of reach. i have my eye on a 91 240. my question is can i use a sr20de out of a sentra ser or an infinti g20. i know we are talking FWD vs RWD but would just the motor it self swap over. i know its ideal to have a red top sr20det but the sr20de seems to be alittle more plentiful. thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Why do you want to swap a sr20de?

Why dont you use the search button this has been covered.

Also, if you are replacing a motor then that would be electric, but if you want to swap you engine then go with a ca18det rather than an sr20de with no power. Ca18DET costs under $1000 for entire engine swap. If you need to replace a motor, there are at least 10 that I can think of as we speak ie; wiper, headlight, rear wiper, mode motor, air/mix motor, blower, sunroof, window, condensor fan, seatbelt retracter. Those are all motors. The engine is what you are looking to replace...

No, trying to put a FWD sr in a 240 is nowhere near worth the hassle.

i meant the engine. i am an electrician by trade so i often use the term motor. i didn't think it would be so critical specialy since i used the correct ENGINE names. there is usally alot more help on here than critasizum.

I could only imagine how much work trying to fit a fwd DE into a 240 would be....

And all that work for something that's close to a stock KA? Don't even bother dude. You'd be happier with the torque of the KA.

Was trying to be a bit sarcastic, but that gets lost in translation on the interwebz. Although, to save yourself anymore headache search sr20de, and then to narrow your search, choose the 240sx/silvia section. This has been covered several times and sufficiently enough to find your answer.

Locked, the SR20DE in a FWD is not the same. I don't know why Nissan doesn't assign engine codes that arent shared.

But yeas its an engine not a motor, without a hassle you cant use the engine.
