So I noticed my motor mounts look pretty crappy. Is it normal for motor mounts to have this many cracks? If not, are their any performance ones available for our cars?

doesn't look normal lol

If it were me I would just replace with stock, usually "performance" type motor mounts are hard polyurethane which would transmission noise and vibration much more than the softer stock mounts.

idk from experience, but they seem like a huge pita to change out lol good luck!

Also, how many miles of your car now? Wonder if this is typical after X number of miles? Might need to take a peek at mine just to make sure @ 32k miles.

My mom had a 1995 Ford Taurus with a 3.0L V6 in it that broke the motor mounts because of the torque. Literally sheared them, so the engine rocked in the bay like a horse bucking. It was actually kind of funny, except for... you know... the intense danger....

What was my point? Oh yeah, it might be just age as previously mentioned, or it could be that the mounts aren't strong enough to handle the torque of the engine.

I have just under 70k miles. I used to race my car a lot but I didn't do anything too crazy. I can't be the only one to have these mess up. has anyone else changed theirs?

I have switched out the same motor mount back when I bearly had 40k. The cracks tend to happen when the engine shakes when you track the car. I had done alot of track times and quarter miles so all the launches wore down my motor mounts quick.

You could also have a brand new Mazdaspeed3 and have terrible motor mounts that are replaced under warranty at 10k miles. =D
