Dropping my motor into my car this friday, and I was just curious as to if it would be easier to bolt the mounts to the crossmember, or the motor itself?

Which will make life easier for me?

fit the mounts to the cross memebr first, but leave them loose, this way it's easier to get them into the bracketsas you drop the engine in

Hmm, I've found that it was easier to mount them loosely to the motor brackets. The opening on the crossmember is slotted and allows for a greater margin of error when you are trying to drop the motor in.

The openings on the motor brackets are just small holes.

i did it like i saw it suggested in some swap guide, either heavy throttle's or sport compact car's, i don't remember which. i bolted one to the engine (pass./right side) and one to the crossmember(left/driver side). that way you can kind of swing it in and tilt it across in a sort of clockwise motion, if you're looking at the car from the front. plus, as memory serves, the engine sort of hangs from hoists in that fashion anyway, and you've got all that mess of lower harness and intake manifold to deal with on the passenger side and i think it's kind of a ***** to try and tighten that mount with all that **** on it from the top. of course, i did have to lean on it with a pry bar to get it in, and it makes more sense to do it the other way, i guess. anyways, sorry to be so vague...

So I bolted them to the engine, and had no problems dropping it ontop of the crossmember. Standing in front of the car, the right side slipped in first, then the left. Wasnt difficult with someone under the car lifting the transmission upward.
