I was trying to wait until I did a swap of some sort before upgrading/replacing my motor mounts, but honestly they scare me. I can move my motor side to side with one hand.

I wanted to be sure that my motor was gonna be worth buying new motor mounts. What labor price should I expect to pay?

What are the disadvantages to having bad mounts besides a shakey car?

I need to replace my passenger side motor mount. I'm waiting till this winter. I would say the worst thing would be added stress to the exhaust. Yoo can do it yourself by unbolting the mounts and jacking up the motor and sliding the new mounts it. I would recognmend it unless you are supporting the engine and have an engine hoist. It would cost alot to have someone do it. I have no idea on pricing. Most of the time they will say they had to pull the engine to replace them and charge you an arm and a leg.

Do you mean, you "wouldn't recommend"? Because if thats the case, then Im probably gonna have to find someone to help me do it.

from what i believe all you have to do is put a jack under the engine on the oil pan on a piece of wood, unbold the mounts, raise up the engine, swap to new mounts, drop it down and tighten it all up....

hmmm...I guess a cheap jack wont work? I have one of those $20 ones from the auto parts store.

and also, what about the transmission mount? Or if I only do the motor mounts, if I jack up the engine, isnt the transmission bolted to the frame too? I dont really understand how the mounts work.

It was 1:38 in the morning yeah I'm not the best at grammar. After you do the front mounts and have the car on a lift or jackstands. Support the trans and raise it up a little. Unbolt the rear trans cross member, should be 4 decent sized bolts. Then unbolt the mount from the motor, should be 2 12mm bolts. Put the new one back in place bolt everything back on and you should be set.
