Motor knocking a little sounds like a truck

Hello i have a 1989 240 with the kaE and i kinda pushed the motor yester day just to see what it can do (not much) but once i slowed down and stoped for a second i could hear a pretty loud kncking sound from my motor so i parked it over night then today i started it back up and it still did it but i drove it any ways well after a lil bit of driving it went away but only comes back when im turning at slow speeds. I thought it may have been when i put throttle body and fuel injector cleaner in it it may have kncked somethig loose and was in the top og my head somewhere but i ruled it out but pulling out one plug wirte at a time and running the motor so i dont know what it is any suggestions?

when you rev it does it get faster? wut exactly does it sound like... hopefully not a rod knock or bearing good luck

well its like i guess a woodpecker on metal and when i rev it gets faster but it had stoped but only hear it a lil when im yurning slow and im barely on the gas in second ya know?

actually yes there are a couple bolts not there on the header but i see no sign of leaks or anything.

that means you exhaust is rattling, try fixing it see if the noise goes away.

also another thing that you could look at would be oil... b/c my '90 will knock occasionally... and from my understanding it is the hydralic lifters knocking or rattling when the oil level / pressure is low... so on cold days or whenever my oil level gets low (it leaks a little) I'll hear a rattle... add a little oil and it goes away... Just an idea though...

Seriously though, it may be low oil level if it is only in turns like arrow mentioned ^^^.

At around 2300 RPM's is it consistent? If so rod bearings is my guess.

mine ticks like that when im low on oil or when i pound on my car. just add a little of oil.

my car also makes that ticking sound, but thats after i hydro-locked it. runs find, did a compression check, all was even accpect the last cycl #4(145psi)
