Ok ill be honest here....I screwed up somewhere not sure how but ive got less than a week to find the issue and fix it.Here Goes.I bought a 89 240sx from a friend of mine, and while showing me what the car could do......he fried my engine, and detached a rod and relocated it on the outside of the block(yes lesson learned never let some1 else drive you car).Anyway I pulled the motor and disasembled it right now Ive got new bearings and the new crankshaft, but I cant get the crank to turn.I reused some parts from the old motor pistons, rods ect could that be the problem?....and no I didnt reuse the thrown rod.Im moving in a week and Im trying as hard as I can to fix the issue here,Ive done some research could It be the piston rings? or ....im not sure I put the caps back on the crank correctly they`re numbered 1-5 and 5 is closest to the flyw and the 1 is by the crnk pully i think, yeah Im a newb at this but im trying as hard a possible to get the hang of it.If all fails im royaly screwd. The motor is a KA24 ..... mixed with another KA24 the blocks were just a little different would that matter?

What do you mean the blocks were different? Is there a second engine involved here? Where did the new parts come from?

And you can't blame this on your friend assuming he didn't overrev it. If the engine threw a rod, it was already doomed to die when you bought it.

Ok yeah guess I shoulda added that I got another motor from a junk yard for the block.New parts came from autozone (bearings and soon piston rings). But re-used pistons, rods, different crank and a different piston for the destroyed one.Yeah the motor was clacking when I got it and he said It was a rocker arm....I didnt see how I checked it out but I never thought about the rod,but like I said I know about motors but this is the first hands on training Ive ever had,im that desprite to try and get it running.Im gonna recheck everything since some people Ive asked for some input on this told me that I may have a few things in backwards like the main bearing caps? And some1 said I might have the crank in backwards.....Im 99.9% sure thats not the case. The ka I got from the junk yard was is what im using the block for and it is a little different than the old motor but block plate? fits and it connects to the trany fine.

You can't use parts out of another engine and expect everything to be peachy, and you really can't even do the same with new bearings from a parts store. I don't have time right now to tell you how to rebuild an engine, but you should spend some time researching the subject.

Sometimes you get lucky; sometimes you don't. That's why you measure everything before the new parts go in. That way you know if they'll fit right, and that's the only way you can get the right size bearings. If you've never rebuilt an engine before and you need this thing running quick, go for a used engine on the cheap. You should be able to find one for $0 - $200. A junk yard will want more unless you talk them in to selling it without the warranty.
