it can probably be done, but you will have to remove everything in the picture cept for the brakes and shocks+springs

a better idea would be to take off the front bumper and "wheel" or push the engine in. if you were going to take off all the suspension it would be a bigger PITA than the front facia and bumper.

by the way, the KA24DE motor is like 2.5'-3' tall. thats with the valve cover and oil pan. also, i dont know exactly how much a KA weighs (300-400lbs maybe? minus manifolds and transmission) but iron blocks sure arent light. me and a buddy of mine had to lift my new KA into another friend's 6" lifted truck with HUGE tires (the ONLY truck i could get to pick it up. bed door came up to my chest when opened, and im 6'). we're pretty strong and that was a *****! luckily it was on a wooden pallette (sp? whatever). its amazing how a 5lb dolly can move a 3-400lb hunk of metal!

anyway, my ideas are find, i'm just rambling cause im a little drunk and caught quite the contact high...yeah i know its only tuesday...shaddup

I wouldnt recommend it unless you have a lift. If you have a lift, dropping the subframe out alone with the motor, transmission, and transmission mount is pretty easy. The problem that you will have with just jacking the car up is that you wont be able to get the car high enough to clear the motor.

If you have access to a lift, dropping the subframe out along with the motor might actually be easier than using an engine crane. I dont think ou dont need to take out the tension rod brackets that are in the picture, just unbolt the tension rods and swaybar and there should be enough room to drop the whole thing out. The easiest way to do it would be to unbolt the swaybar, and drop the whole subframe out with the shocks and springs as well.
