Can I take my sr20 redtop short block to any motor builder or does it require a specialty shop because it was not imported to here. Whats ballpark on labor cost for rebuild. Rs enthalpy seems high.

you should make sure they have some import experience and make sure they access to all the information for a good solid build. This is where you need to make sure that the person you choose has some good credentials and a great track record.

price will depend on what you are putting in the motor(pistons, rods, bore, sleeves)etc..but it could be anywhere from 700-3000, just depends on the details.

Roger that, im really curious about labor/ machine/ assembly costs, I know I 'll be doing new rod/main bearings, eagle rods,& cp pistons that will be around 1000-1200w/ extras. Im wondering what a shop will charge to throw it all in.

you need to get on a local forum or find some guys in your area on here. I know there are some builders in VA and MD that do good work...but you just need to call and get pricing...and make sure they have a REAL shop. They wont be cheap.

a good local shop will be able to do a rebuild as long as you do not require sleeves. I can not emphasize enough to only have very well known and reputable shop do your sleeves (such as mazworx).

What ever you do make sure it's machined with a torque plate or you will have a lot of headaches. I own one i'll help you out with a build if you need it. I'm building my sr20det right now and am brining it to a top notch shop. Take a tour and see if they know what there talking about.

I certainly appreciate your offer and will let you know. I'm trying to get a friend help me tow it home b/c its super low. As soon as i get it home the engines coming out for rebuild. i would like to do it myself but i know there is a lot to go wrong there.
