I recently blew a rod in my 2005 350z. My motor build date is 08/04. I was wondering if it matters what build date motor i put it. Every salvage yard asks for the build date, all im wondering is does it matter?

thanks

The only thing that I could think of in a 2005 would be to make sure that you were getting parts from RevUp engine if you needed them. Check the FSM part numbers abs see if there are any differences in parts based on build dates.

It could just be something as simple for the salvage yards as having complete paperwork.

no difference only thing would be de vs revup vs hr since all 3 are different although a de could be converted to revup. build date could be used by a dealer to track the original bearings used in the engine but thats about it since clearances would all be the same and hence why they have different size bearings.
