most power out of a stock ka24de?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

im curious as to what the stock ka24de motor will handle (assuming the fuel and timing is conservative). i searched and had no luck. has anyone found the breaking point on these motors?

I assume you mean stock internals, ie block and head...i'd guess 300whp or somewhere abouts...i'm sure someone has pushed the limits...

yeah stock motor. i know it can handle more than 300 whp. i just wanna know if anyone has found the breaking point/limit that it can take.

You'll probably get mixed reviews because some people's tuning skills are vastly superior to others...but I always heard it was around 15psi. (Of course that's an arbitrary number, but I'd assume on some sort of a T3/T4.)

350 is as high as I've seen on a stock KA. But that's not necessarily the breaking point. So far, noone I know of has broken anything from strictly too much boost. Most failures have been from detonation. Thouogh with the available fuel, preventing detonation beyond 15 or so PSI can be a chore.

So the stock pistons have held up to 350rwhp? With good tuning of course, but still, I thought they'd break way before that...

Yep...Dennis from ATL, one of the Unstable Hybrids guys, has been running a custom setup with JWT/50lb/Cobra MAF for years, and dyno'd 351rwhp at ~15psi.

TY from AZ has been running almost 1-bar daily for 4 years making ~320rwhp...same JWT setup.

So conservative fuel and timing will net you +300 no problem, with loads of reliability...the pistons can take it.

But a little detonation, like mine at 6psi, will break the ring lands in NO time.

Yeah.. don't detonate, or put in aftermarket pistons. ;)

i have experienced broken ringlands on my last car from not enough fuel. it sucked, but better things came from it. this time around im set but im just curious as to how far i can go before something takes ****.
