Well this is 2 topics in one...

What is most popular color in the G37?

Also, is Auto or 6MT more desirable in this model? When i bought mine... 8/10 appear to be auto...

If I would have bought my G37 all over again I would have chosen Slate blue or Athens Blue...

If you go by total cars sold I think I saw something saying IP was 1, then it was a toss up between the Platinum Graphite and Blue Slate, then Black....red was at the bottom.

Tough to call, but go with your gut on what color to get. I am just now trying to decide between black or blue onyx for a new G37xSedan.

See also the recent Dupont's press release on Popular Paint for Cars in 2008/9:

"DuPont knows a thing or two about car colors, being a leading supplier of paint and coatings to the global auto industry since Fuscia was officially recognized as a legitimate hue. The company has just released its 2008 Automotive Color Popularity Report and White has retained its crown as this continent's most popular car color, though not without qualification. White scored 16 percent on the report while Silver, which ran the tables on every other color for six years prior to 2007, scored 17 percent. However, if you add the 4 percent score of White Effect, or White Pearl, to just plain old White's score, you get a winning score of 20%.

The "Effect" in White Effect refers to special pigments added to paint that gives it a pearl or iridescent quality. This allows some differentiation between your white BMW and your neighbor's white Lexus. Black and Black Effect scored 11 and 6 percent, respectively, which means that U.S. citizens have pretty boring tastes when it comes to the color palette of their cars. Not to worry though, as DuPont suggests that White winning two years in a row suggests a "palette cleansing" that may precede a new color trend, one that is hopefully a little more exciting than the monochromatic machines we favor today."Source: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/1...color/

I think your 8/10 number is fairly close if memory serves. So, guess it could be assumed that autos are more desirable.... can't imagine them cranking out 80% as autos if half the customers were asking for sticks.Seems to be the trend for the auto industry as a whole.

Part of this must be due to modern day drivers juggling cell phones and the like, and part of this has to do with the environment as I bet its a little easier to to keep emmisions down if the car controls shifting. Just a hunch.

Me personally........ I don't get the whole love affair with autos! :PGuess I'm just stuck in my ways.

The new auto trannies are fast, so most people like them for performance and ease of driving.

People that really plan to mod their cars will get the manual.
