What are some of the most common repairs that need to be done to a 94 J30 other than regular maintenance?

That's kind of a loaded question.

It really depends on the previous maintenance of the vehicle and the age and also the location where the vehicle has spent most of its life.

I would only, but a J today that has got full service history. These vehicles are expensive to repair. A lot of parts are Nissan OEM only.

I agree with all of those...phantom door locks have been an issue for years, seems to come and go away. Same with the rest really, smack my dimmer and it comes back on, pull up the parking brake with my foot occasionally, and had to replace the relay once both headlights started going out. Ol girl was getting scared of my driving in her old age and kept closing her eyes...lol

other issues I've had were the thermostat housing leaking, passenger side window would go down on it's own in the rain, transmission would shift erratically in the rain after I got it flushed, I think the shop didnt get a seal in a connection back seated properly, the rear panels under the back doors are rusting thanks to Indiana road salt, one I havent experienced but heard of is the sunroofs tend to leak if you dont keep the drains cleaned out, which can leak into the engine computer and short it out, I'm sure there's other issues, but if it wasnt for a growing family, I'd keep the J well over 300k and restore it. I love the car and would buy another if they still made it. But the day of it's retirement may be soon.

I think I figured out Infiniti's J30 door lock conspiracy. Look at what they termed "selective logic" automatic door locks on the window sticker. Perhaps their engineers intended for them to work illogically at times!

Can you please take your caps off? Its sounds like your yelling.

Don't take a chance with your timing belt, if you know it hasn't been done (or supect it hasn't been done), get it looked after first. The J30 engine has an interference design, when the belt goes your engine will be toast. You'll be looking at big bills for either a rebuild or a new one.
