Sup Nico! Just need people's opinions on what mods have the biggest impact on performance on the track/street for my build! I'm not made of money, or else everything would have already been done to my car. I drive an S13 hatch with Zenki S14 SR20DET. Just looking to enhance throttle response and overall handling. I know the basic things, but I need to start thinking out of the box. I plan on getting things like, an all aluminum one-piece drive shaft, light-weight flywheel, etc etc. I have removed everything from the car that I don't consider a necessity. For ex ; radio unit, all speakers, rear seats, all sound deadening, rear seat belts, complete AC unit, Hicas system (swapped for non-hicas subframe) windshield washer reservoir (was broken anyway) blower motor and heat (also broken, was leaking coolant inside the car) etc etc...

As far as suspension the three main things that helped my car was subframe bushings, torsion rod bushings and sway bars. As far as power, a simple ”bang for your buck” setup would be a ecutunerguy modded ecu for a z32 maf, five-o 550cc injectors, and twisted motion 2871r jb turbo. If you wanna go cams id recommend 256 tomei poncams for the respons your looking for.

Don't forget to take the diff out of your hicas subframe.....or if you'd like to donate it to me :) but seriously hold on to it and depending on your wants/needs, reshim it and you'll be very happy with a very cost effective vlsd.

I was looking at Kaaz 1.5 way diffs. I plan on time attacking my car. For now, I'm re-using my VLSD. Do they sell VLSD fluid at Nissan? or is there something better to put in it?

Kaaz is not ”bang for your buck” lol. No, vlsd ”fluid” cannot be replaced.

The VLSD is a sealed unit. The fluid can't be replaced if you're planning on road racing, you might not like the 1.5 way. I would suggest finding someone with a locker like that and drive it around before you drop that kind of coin on the diff.

So the VLSD would be best for road racing? Is there any other good mechanical LSD's out there for our cars? Thanks for all the help people. I appreciate it.

I have a VLSD in my S13. They're alright. The locking is gradual, which I like for road racing/auto-x. For that appication, I still prefer helical style diffs (torson, quaife, s15 hlsd). I'm not knocking the clutch style diffs as they are very proven to work in road racing, but I've just personally never cared for them.
