Just offering a friendly invite to anybody from the S. Florida area who wants to come to Moroso for a little 1/4 mile fun. It is suppose to be in the 50's so as the saying goes, when the temps drop, so do the ET's and maybe finally I can break the 14sec barrier with Robert's MadMax ECU as previous personal best a year ago was 14.25@100mph.

Track opens at 6pm and runs till midnight for $15 you get to see what you got in the 1/4 ET's. Hope to see some NICO people there.

I am seriously debating putting on my ligth 15" BBS wheels for this event. Trouble is that I am concerned the lack of traction from off the line hurting my ET's more than the heavy weight of my 18" wheels. I can already kick the back end a little sideways from breaking traction from a dead straight launch with my 4.08 and know that with the 15" wheels I will most likely be spinning much more than needed and will lose vaulable 60' times due to traction.

I would put the 15's on and warm them up a little bit. Hopefully the track will be prepped nice and you can get a decent launch. Either way I would run the 15's and just feather the throttle a little bit out of the hole.

Post up some numbers when you are done. I would expect with the 15's and new ECU that you should see a 13.9xxx pass.

Or you could just bring both sets.

Do you have any timeslips to compare 60ft times when you know you had good or bad traction?

And "warming up" DOT aged street tires is not as productive as one might think. You'd be better off to buy some pseudo street/drag radials for the 15's, but I think you're at the end of your "spending-rope" with the Q >

Well,up to now my experience at Moroso Park has been in BMWs on the road course. With a '97 Q45t,looks like I'll get to learn a new way of driving.Rob's certainly the one to learn from!

I'm in the Delray Beach/Boca area, and will try and catch Rob as he comes north out of Miami.Anyone else interested, either show up at Moroso,or call me if you want to meet on the way,or possibly for dinner first if there's time.Like to get to know my new club members. cell 561-445-3189.

Rob; If you've had experience using the 15's in the past,I'd have to agree if you get the holeshot right, you'll get a better ET than with the 18's.Weight's always critical, especially unsprung weight. RA/Bob G.

Forgot to mention....

The 15" are almost bald. My understanding of tires are that the initial outter layer of rubber is very soft and sticky compared to the deeper layers and therefore these tires will not stick as easily if I had new 15" tires. Apparently this is why the first few thousand miles the tire seems to wear quicker and then the wear is less progressive as the tread depth gets less and less?

Secondly....I don't ever put on slicks. I have a strong belief that I will only run a setup at the track that I can run on the public street. Slicks are nice, but what good is it going to do me if I can't duplicate these ET's on the street? It would be pointless to say my car did a 13.8 ET knowing that I could not duplicate this on the street because I was running slicks and then to even try to compare it to other cars is no good either unless they were on slicks for which 99% of them are on regular street tires also. If I can't drive it there….it won't be at the track.

There is not enough time to switch tires, etc. The track is over 80 miles away. I need a truck to carry the extra set of wheels & hydraulic jack and then a trailer. Just ain't going to happen. One of the reasons that I am trying to bring myself to sell the Q….I need a 4-door pickup truck for my vette projects and also home projects. Nothing worse than having to take an extra special trip to Orlando just to pick up all the original numbers matching parts off the car for storage hauling them in my Q when if I had a truck I could do it all in just one trip with me trailering the vette back home and all the parts in the truck bed.

Rob your right about the tires..... Itd probably be best for you to keep the 18s on there......

I beg to differ, atleast in my case. I can get the GTP to hook HARD at the track when I warm them up first. I think cutting a 2.0 for a 60' time on a FWD car with street tires is pretty decent.

rsiwicki, Your MPH is there. I think the car is capable of a 13 sec. pass.

Heading up there tonight. Going as is....no BBS wheels or anything else changed out. Just too busy to get anything done before this evening. Unfortunately...I had busted a transmission line a week ago and had some backwards mechanic fix it and refill with who knows what kind of transmission fluid. So Wednesday I took it to a BG Flush shop to have it flushed since I had no idea what the other guy stuck in there and it has been 18+ months since installing my LevelTen. I originally had some high performance synthetic stuff....but due to time constraints I went with non-synthetic fluid BG flush. Well all is good except that I lost a lot of my snappy quick shifts. It still shifts very quick, just not as quick as before. Don't know what implications this will have on my ET's....but I think I will still see some nice runs tonight. Better be less than 14.25 ET or the car is going to the chopping block. Apparently transmission fluid does make a big difference in shift performance. I will eventually go by the good stuff when time permits.

I agree, even in the stock transmission, the synthetic fluid in Lola makes a huge difference in shift performance.
