Mike, don't even say it. :squint:

Before all of you start yelling about "Where's my helmet?" and "we're all doomed" do me favor and at least scan the article. What is your opinion on why the shift has moved from a majority of male drivers to a majority of female drivers?

The author suggested life expectancy, the fact that (most) women don't drive aggressively as men, that women tend to be more safety conscious, etc., etc. I wonder if it has anything to do with more men staying at home and more women going back to work to be the bread-winners. Or if the economic crunch on certain families says, 'if we don't have a job, we can't afford to renew the license; we'll just take the bus'.

Dont women outnumber men in the world? Also arent men more prone to dying bc of having riskier jobs?

I believe a nearly equal number of males and females are born, but there are more females that are alive.

I would chalk it up to a statistical error. I see more men than women on the road, and I'm particularly nosy enough when driving due to my constant impatience to notice that fact. That's at least for the 200 square miles I do business in every month, yeah.

Didn't you have a similar thread addressing something like this earlier?

The numbers weird me out...not the gender-specific ones, but overall. Simply noting a decrease in licensed drivers leaves a lot unsaid. It seems weird to me. The age group, particularly, is odd. I can understand college-age people of both genders going car-less, but 25-29 is a really goofy age group to see a significant decrease across. I'm not sure what to make of it. I'd definitely like to see the details behind the numbers. Particularly, I'd like to see the regions where the decrease is occuring. Is it places like New York where no one needs a car anyway? Or is it places where unemployment is high so people don't have a job to drive to or money to afford a car in the first place? Or something else?

Possible side-effect:
Kids may be hanging on to their virginity for a longer period of time due to p0rn and Facebook taking the place of banging it out in the back seat.

This is a great time to be alive, but being an adolescent used to be more fun.

Damn, I guess we can end the thread now with that conclusion :chuckle:

I agree. I'd say something regarding my brother but he actually drove my mom's car almost 80mi to see a girl.

Oh he did. They were together for 2+ yrs or so and she even moved to be closer; then she cheated on him. So he's back to not leaving his room again.

In all seriousness, I'm with MoD on this one.

I am, but that's not my wife. My wife isn't interested in that stuff. She does like my cars and motorcycles, though.
