So I'm contemplating a SR20 swap into my 1998 S14. After reading all the threads here it seems like no one can provide a useable DIY guide and trust me I looked at all the ones provided. The best one was at driftingisgay.com but it was really not all that readable. SO my question is what should I do to avoid this whole wiring fiasco? Is it better to just drop an extra few hundred to get an S14 sr20 so that it all just clicks in or can someone actually provide a decent site??

i thought you still had to swap the harness on any sr, maybe not. but if you do then its all really the same i guess. and to tell you the truth, if you need to do the wiring i recomend not letting heavy throttle do it. it looks like a 12 year old put it together. its really easy to do and it will turn out much nicer done by you.

get the S13sr and either send your harness to Taylor Durdan in Tampa, or do it yourself using this guide......... http://mysite.verizon.net/nrgo...4.htm

I've read over that DIY about 5 times and as good with wiring as I am its not really making a whole lot of sense to me....are you supposed to splice the wires in the boxes togeather or whats the deal??

even if you get a s14 motorset its not just guna "click in" the wires are not in the same locations in the usdm harness as compared to a jdm harness. I would still try to match chassis though because the overall wireing is a little different between the two cars. The s13 motor gets it power from up by the battery where the s14 gets it power behind the glove box and also can have wipers and cruise controll on the motor harness. But either motor can be done in iether chasis with the right info. I did a kouki s14 with a kouki SR it took a few days but I got it all done and it fired on first crank. All you need is ecu pinout that is accurate and the pinout of your connectors and you go from there. Unfortunatley s14 wireing info is a little more scarce than the s13 stuff, but i searched my tail off and found all the info i needed.

I'd pay someone to do it honestly. Wiring Specialties is what I used for $100 and that saves alot of hassle.
