Alright so I had my window get stuck a few months ago. It got stuck about 1/3 of the way up and made an awful "plastic gear grinding" noise (best way I can describe it). I helped it by pulling it up past that point where it stopped, and it continued up the track, until it got stuck about 2/3 of the way up, and made the same grinding noise. Tried to help it up at that point, but it wouldn't budge. So I bought a used motor/regulator from a local friend. Installed that, and the same problem happened and it got stuck at the same points on the track (even with the newly purchased motor/regulator). I could help it up each time by pulling it up and it seemed to work for a while that way for a month or so...then I parked the Z to rebuild the engine for a few months.

So I finished rebuilding my engine and I've been driving it around loving the fall weather, then all of a sudden, my window gets stuck again. God bless this car,

I took the door panel, regulator, slider tracks, and window out now. Nothing is in the slider tracks, blocking it up. The sliders on the window appear to be just fine. I have 12V at the body connector for the motor, in all three modes: auto down, down, and up. The motor on the regulator I just took out is stuck and it won't move. I will take it off the regulator to see if it moves then, but I don't know what that would mean.

I really have no idea where to go. I know it's unlikely, but could I have gotten a bad motor from my friend, with the same exact problem as mine?

I'm gonna empty a box of buckshot on this car if anything else breaks lol

Turned out the motor went bad. I think it was because of the slider tracks. I took the window out, and everything that touches anything in that system and I cleaned the crap out of it with brake clean and wire brush. Then I wiped it clean and coated it with the dry silicone spray from 3m. And I put some grease on the regulator and new/used motor gear teeth.

Works great now, much faster. Still makes noise when it's rolling down, but it should be all good to go now.

So lesson learned, grimy dirt and dust buildup in the slider and regulator tracks really will wear out a window motor way fast.

I know this an old post but Thanks, just had the same thing happen to me. I'll clean all the tracks out and get a new motor.
