Alright gang,

was cruising the Q forum and came across one with this combination:18x9 ET24 FR500 wheels all around 245/45/18 Yokohama ES100 front tires 275/40/18 Falken FK-451 rear tires

they are mustang wheels but I'm pretty sure they are 97-04 offset

but I did some surfing and found the same wheel tire combo with WHEEL OFFSET: 9" 38MM - 10" 42MM

Yeah I know they are 18's but i need the extra side wall hight (the roads are horrible here) and I like the width. Still trying to find springs to help with the look........

which of these would be best for an 03 M

Well I would not even come close to suggest that 275 on a 9 inch wide rim is practical, if even safe. That side wall will be hanging off of the rim and look like crap. I would go for a better set of wheels for your M. For a stock look you would want around 35-38mm offset, 24mm will be out a little and if/when you lower it you may need to roll the fenders just a bit to prevent rubbing.

i've never asked the question since my tires are still pretty new, but i have the same issue, the roads here feel like i'm on the moon. Therefore i have always wondered on stock rims can u go more than the 45 height? ie a 235-55-18?

Can you? Yes, you can but 10 percent more(45 vs 55) on a 235mm wide tire is another inch of tire height. That will really throw your speedo off. You would have to compensate that with a narrower tire, possibly a 225 or a 215.

since the rims are 18+ 2*(4) the whole thing should be about 26 inches or so...adding one inching should only mess with the speedometer by 4%...that's not too bad. Am i doing the math right?

275 is a perfect fit on a 9.5... works on a 9... now if it were an 8" rim thats another story...

Actually from what I have seen is that a 275 fits perfect on a 10 or 10.5 inch wheel. Think about it this way, how many mm's in an inch? 23.5 approx right? So times that by 10 and you get 235mm's and your putting 275 of rubber on that. So take 23.5 times 9 and you get 210 or so, so with the same amount of rubber you are overly surpassing the wheel. I would go on the lower side of the fitment with a narrower tire but never bigger, plus it will look like crap with the tire sticking that far off the wheel.
