Well I'm hearing alot of weird noises lately, and I'm just trying to diagnose them.

This one, that I'm troubled on right now, can best be heard at idle, when I am next to a building or something similar. (NOTE: I can really only hear it when I'm buy a building, cause the sound resonates better I'm guessing)

But anyways, the best I can describe it as, is a faint hiss/scrape noise. It happens alot, but it isn't in any sort of pattern or rhythem. sometimes there is a very brief pause in the noise, other times it lasts a few seconds.

When I rev the engine up it sounds as if the noise is getting way.. faster. If thats the right word. It gets louder and becomes a constant noise, but my exhaust also drowns it out, so I can't make an accurate assessment of the noise.

My engine is a ka24e..

I'm thinking maybe something belt related, but I would think it'd occur way more with the belt moving as fast as it does, and i think it'd be a set rhythem. This noise is just 'casual', its not all squeaky like a belt would be or anything.

Any help would be great. I'm off tomorrow so I plan on working on the car.

Or could be the throw out bearing, just making the usual bearing noises.

i have electric fans, and about the throwout bearing, is it bad to hear anything coming from it?

i have a stage 5 clutch, and i know it makes a sound, but the sound goes away when i push in the clutch.. whereas this noise im hearing now doesnt go away at any time.

The sound from the TOB is just normal bearing sound. After a short while they just do that. Although, if the sound isnt going away, when the clutch is pressed, then I cant be sure what what the sound might be. Could be something like a heat sheild rattle or something. I would investigate thoroughly and see if you can pinpoint where it is comming from. Good luck.

i'm just gonna add another question in this thread, since it relates, and i already have another thread.

i hear a metal on metal scraping noise, from my drivers side front of my car, whenever im going 17mph, or 8 mph.. roughly.. it only happens when i am in gear. if im out of gear, or the clutch is pushed in, the sound goes away. it really sounds like scraping, and it started today.

any ideas.

nothing has changed in my car since yesterday, except i took off the heat shield on my cat, but thats in a diff location. also it rained today, and i drove around a drifted a bit.

thats the only things out of place that have happened.maybe those can help determine.
