Been a while since I posted. Figured I'd see who might be interested in some more OPINIONS. I now have 1900 miles on my Dark Currant '11.

Gas Gauge: I never did take it to the deal about the "mindless" gauge. I guess I have gotten used to it. I know pretty much when I should get gas now. I drove it, ignoring the computer warning, until the needle was below the last red line. Put in 23 .9 gallons at that point. Since then I have started filling up when the warning shows up. Its really not an inconvenience, and I know I can go 350 miles on a tank if needed.

Gas Mileage: I thought I was going to be worried about this. All in all, I'm really not. Actually, I could care less. There are SO many good things about this vehicle, that I would gladly sacrifice higher mileage figures to keep them.

Phone: I picked up and BackSlide by Motorola and it works great with the BT interface. No issues like with the BackFlip.

NAV/CD/DVD/Ipod/Music Box: Wow, that is a mouth full! Nav system is great! Sounds like she has marbles in her mouth on some of the street names, but it has worked perfectly! Better than even my Garmin. The Voice commands are easy and I actually understand what its trying to do when routing. The Traffic, weather etc... are great. The weather alerts have come in handy a few times too.

The auto record to the Music box is nice but I'll never fill it up!

Ipod works great, even with my older version. I managed to BT my IPad to it. I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't display like the I pod does. But it does work. I have not tried a hard wire hook up with the Ipad yet. Really had no reason to at this point.

DVD is still confusing. I still have to randomly hit buttons on the remote to get the screens doing what I want them to do! I thought the front seat folks could listen to the radio while the rear seat used the head phones to listen to a movie. Is this possible? I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I don't mind listening to a movie, but there is only so much I can take!!!

I did hook up the Wii, and with the wireless sensor bar, it works great. My son will LOVE this when we travel!

So far this is a great truck/car/SUV/whatever. All the comfort and power I could ask for and more. Anyone driven on the Tail of the Dragon with one yet? I know, not really the right tool for the job, but I had to ask. I'm heading up that direction in a few weeks and simply LOVE to drive that road and HWY28. I bet I will be on tired SOB by the end of it though!!!! :rotfl

One question for a vendor? maybe? Does anyone make a light bar/push bar (NOT a wrap around brush guard) for the new QX? I would love a small one that could mount a set of lights and maybe a winch? Not that I'm planning on going off road in it, I just have a use for a winch from time to time. (With the right pulleys mounted UNDER the truck, it can be used to pull various "things" *cough '55 chevy cough* onto a trailer or maybe pull a tree out of the middle of the road on a dark night? Don't ask!)

Great post, lots of great commentary.

On the gas tank, yes, it drops quickly down to 3/4s -- drove down to the warning light for about 20 miles, filled up the tank and it only required 20 gallons (meaning 6 gallons still left). Just get used to it.

On the Wii, where did you put the motion bar? Curious.

On watching dvd's from the front seats, there is a mod post somewhere here for his.

We are loving our 2011 QX as well.

Great feedback! Very informative. Yes, the front seats can listen to music while the back seat listens to headphones with a movie. I believe there is a headphone button on your dash that you press. I am pretty sure when the rear controls are on, they are able to have independent sound through the phones.

Unfamous,
I have yet to see any brush guard or bull bar available for ANY QX56. I was really surprised to realize this after I bought my 04' QX56 that no one made a guard to fit it. I mean, you see these things on Escalades and the QX has more of a rugged appearance than an Escalade so why one isn't available beats me. I'd like to set-up my truck with an off-road appearance and like you, would love to have a brush guard and winch. It might have something to do with the infrared cruise control and that a guard may block or hinder the laser for that feature ..not sure. If anyone knows of one, please do tell!

Okay, more up dates!!

Spent the weekend driving. Vacation with the family in NC. Western NC :naughty: You guess it yet? Tail of the Dragon and Hwy 28 baby! You know what? This thing is awesome as a canyon carver! Way better than my e66 BMW was. I simply had a blast and got some good comments from fellow gearheads. :chuckle:

My absolute favorite thing is driving hwy28 at night. Crazy I know, but real fun and a challenge. I really need to find a light bar for the front. I have seen, maybe in non US counties, photos of the new Patrol in police service equipped with a light bar or push bar. Think one of them would fit the QX?
