By now, most people have heard about the Takata airbag failures. Today, more cars were added to the list. There are a few Nissans on the list so make sure you check it out and get your vehicle into the dealer if needed. One of our fleet was on the list. Our oldest daughter drives a CR-V. The Honda dealership was great, it wasn't a lengthy repair. They were in and out within a couple of hours.

Just a reminder, if you bought your car used, the notifications from the manufacturers don't always reach new owners. To err on the side of caution, make sure your car isn't one of those affected. Here is the link to the NHTSA website where you can enter in your VIN number and find out if your car has any recalls. (Takata-related or otherwise). https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/

This article was posted up yesterday. It's a list of the makes / models that are on the Takata list.

Dang! My wife's 2011 Acura TSX is on the list.

Gotta get this done asap.

Since it will take them a while, In the interim, is it best to disconnect the airbags somehow?

Question though: the VIN does not show up as needing the Takata airbag recall on the NHTSA site, but is listed in the models at the Motorweek site.

Anyone know if the NHTSA site is up to date or not?

And another question: if the 2003-2005 Infiniti FX35, 2003-2005 Infiniti FX45, 2001 Infiniti I30, 2002-2004 Infiniti I35 are on the list, why isn't my 2003-2004 Infiniti M45 on the list too? Is the airbag in it safe? Or not?

There weren't a ton of these models made (less than 9000 in all), so is that a reason why they have not been checked out perhaps?

Scary ...

Have you checked the Infiniti website? It is up date.

Good luck!

Miata and Seville are both excluded.

Now I can ram into things with confidence.

Hi, all.

We finally received the Acura recall notice yesterday, for my wife's 2011 Acura TSX and the airbag issue. Parts for repair will not be in for another 4 to 8 weeks apparently.

One curiosity: the letter "suggested" that we avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger seat till the repair is done.

Is this because only passenger air-bag is an issue? Or because they only want one per to die rather than two? :nono:

The Infiniti site does not have my 2003 M45 listed, but that may not be indicative ... there were only about 8500 M45's sold in those two model years. And maybe not enough of them have been in an accident where the air-bag deployed bad.

I just wish that there was a way to tell if my car has Takata airbags ... given that similar model years of G35 have the problem. :(

I'm pretty sure Infiniti and every other auto maker know the exact parts that were used. They would have financial records showing what was purchasing to build the car. I would guess they would have internal documents indicating every part used to build each model, engineers would want this. If they don't they should.

If your car isn't listed then I'd say there is a 99% chance it doesn't have a Takata airbag.
