Been running a bunch of numbers through my head and I'm wondering what you guys think of these setups:

17x8 +25 17x9 +35

Tire choices...

Fr: 245/45/17 Falken Azenis Rr: 245/45/17 Falken Azenis

Fr: 235/45/17 Kumho MX Rr: 255/40/17 Kumho MX

Fr: 245/40/17 Kumho MX Rr: 275/40/17 Kumho MX

So far I've ran on 215/45/16 Azenis on a 7" wheel and I loved them, they had a bit of fade over the long haul but I don't expect a street compound to live through alot of hard driving and my alignment specs aren't exactly ideal and most likely are causing excessive heat build-up in the tires.

Right now I'm aiming for the Azenis, and I'd like to hear some opinions from you guys

ST-115s don't hold a candle to the Azenis Sports

really, then i say try the mx's you already had the azenis you said, and its time to get a new set of sneakers, try 'em out. like i said people love them, i went to pocono raceway last season for an hpde and everyone and their mother had the mx's. they all seemed pretty satisfied braggin about how many tenths they were able to take the turns at w/ the new tires. hope my rambling helped

Go with the middle one. I haven't really heard much about the MX yet but if you went with the 245 azenis all the way around then you would experience a slight increase in oversteer due to the larger rear rim.

I was under the impression that the MXs had pretty soft sidwalls and were better for straightline performance where the Azenis had very stiff sidewalls.

What is the tire going to be used for?

Oh, and the Azenis's look like they run sort of wide if that makes sense. I think that the 245 on a 8" is going to bulge a good bit.

235-45-17 and 255-40-17's man, that will be flush with the wheels and leave you an ideal bead seat and great tire selection :)-chetGrab you some S-03's..

I'm with Chet, good size combo and also check into the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 in that size combo as well. The rears are on backorder now but well worth the wait.

I'd stay away from the 245/45/17's in the front. They are a bit tall and rubbed against the fender liner when turning sharply in my car(on a 17x8 wheel with a +30 offset). I'm only lowered about 1.2 inches in front.

According to Tire Rack's testing, the performance was almost equal to the BFG KD's. Considering how the BFG's seem to be the street tire of chjoice when it comes to performance, the MX seems to be worth looking into. Not to mention the wet performance is loads better according to Tire Rack's testing data. The only thing I am not sure of is it's long term track durability. I am not sure how Tire Rack conducts their testing. Grant might be able to give us some insight here. But I've had tires that perform wonderfully on the street overheat very quickly on a track. I haven't seen enough credible opinions from people who run the MX on the track yet.

I do have on credible opinion from a gentelman that weekend races(road races) his 400hp camaro SS(gutted, its blindingly fast and well balanced....for a camaro) he also owns a shop near me...

He loves them on the street, says they're great for the money, but absolutely hates the way they degrade after one hot lap on a road coarse. He's run s-03's, Pzeros, MX's and micheling pilot sport mXX3's and says although the mxx3 and Pzero dont start with the initial grip of the other 2, they keep their grip longer.

Of the racing tires hes used, he did say the kumo victoracer didnt fare well against the a032R, but since its also like 50 dollars a shot less....

but thats just one guys opinion, myself..I havent driven on kumho race tires or the MX;'s just the 712's(which I have a healthy distaste for..) so I cont give personal feedback....
