Have been in between getting one of these cars. Going with used, probably '06 if G35, '07 if 350z.

Anyways, I was pushing more towards 350z, but it recently started snowing and I realized I need something that can at least handle the snow a little bit. So I started looking more into the G35 (which was actually my first choise back a couple months ago).

So, I believe that the G35 is better in the snow and rain just because it has VDC and Electronic Stability (er whatever the name is) already included, where the 350z Base doesn't have anything.

How's the maintenance and cost on this car? It's an Infiniti so I'm guessing pretty hefty... But is the car known for problems? (I know there is a thread devoted to this, but I was having trouble navigating that website, without logging in)

I am buying used, so I don't know what kind of a warranty I'll be getting on it, hopefully more than 2 years.

Kind of rambled there, but any information that you can give me is fantastic, I really need a new car. And hopefully I'll be coming to these forums more often once I decide!

Thanks!

Welcome to NICO!

Check out some of the threads...lots of info.

As far as which car to get, I'd get the G if you think you'll ever need the backseat. (family, girls) Both cars are essentially the same, so maintenance cost would be similar. I don't know why everybody thinks that Infiniti maintenance is so expensive

The cars are very dependable, and both use the same, award-winning VQ35 engine. Get an 05+ coupe to avoid early model year issues.

The 350Z is a great car but you should be able to find a G for the same price. Try to get a 07 if your looking for an auto 06 if your getting a manual.

Oil change is cheap and easy about $25.

I had my transmission flushed and filled at the dealership for $150? And they gave me a 06 loaner to drive while the worked on mine.

The car looks pretty easy to work on imo and the parts are not too exspensive.

I'd get the G if I were you and have a backseat!

Wow thanks for the fast replies! I would be getting manual, so you suggest an '06?

And yeah, for some reason people think that maintence is high, so that's why I thought it was...

And when they were flushing your trans, did you buy the car from the dealer new? Or what? Do you take your car into the Infiniti dealer?

Hey, can you guys tell me what you think of this?

Seems like a decent price, maybe a bit too low??

Sorry for the long link, no other way too though!

too low?? I was thinking a bit high without nav...check KBB for an accurate price assessment. plus are you sure you want wheat interior?

...and don't worry, the forum automatically reduces the size of the links

I bought the car used from an Infiniti dealership with 16411 miles on it back in July it was a lease return. At 20,000 miles and some drag racing I had the transmission flushed and filled at the Infiniti dealership I bought it from. The service was amazing.... heres my post zerothread/289992

I always keep the transmission and diff serviced to prevent failure due to my driving habits.

If you get a nav unit, can you watch DVDs on it??

http://www.cars.com/go/search/...=true

That's the new one I'm thinking of, too much?

(Want black, but willing to go with Silver or Chrome)

Also, how do you load maps onto the unit?

You can watch movies on the little LCD screen whether you spring for NAV or not. IT is very hard to find a G35 with Nav that is not an X or a S. Just a heads up.

You can only watch movies on the screen (nav or not) if the parking brake is on. There is a company that sells a electronic mod you can remove the panel below the screen and solder in. It will trick the screen into thinking the E brake is always on.

It prolongs the inevitable

I only went through 3 rear ends, one motor and one transmission in my Hemi ram in 57,000 miles SERIOUSLY

Hey man, I bought my car in March of 07, from Bentley of Downers Grove. It had 300 miles and was still in the wrap from Infiniti. I found it on Luxurymotors.com . Check them out, but you HAVE to drive the car before you buy since they are a big volume dealership. Btw, I paid 29,900 before tax and fees.

It seems that Infiniti Maintenance is expensive relative to Nissan Service. This is why I get my oil changed at Nissan. May let do do some service as well. Labor rates are cheaper.

Hey what're the differences between the Sport and Premium? How will I know if I'm getting a "sport package"? Spoiler?
