So couple weeks ago replaced both belts, and still have the same loud squeek, oh well to that. Now it seems I have a much worse problem. For about the past month there has been a little noise from a dead stop when taking off at a stoplight or anywhere. Kind of a "bing"/ popping noise. I figured maybe front struts going bad. It never does it over speed bumps though. So just tonight it is BAD. I stopped at a stop sign took off very lightly and felt a pretty good slam. It sounds pretty bad and now I can feel it. The other morning I parked on an incline, front end facing kinda down hill. Soon as i put it in reverse its like a delayed engagement of some sort and then same going into drive. SO if anyone knows what this might be please help me out, thanks.

The squeel could be a pulley.
The delayed engagement is probably your transmission. How many miles on the car and when was the last time you had your transmission fluid changed?

Yeah, sounds like your transmission. Does it feel like it's slipping when changing gears while you're driving?

Ive done some searching I think its the U-joint. Its a common part to fail at high miles and all my symptoms are exactly like what has been described. The car shifts perfectly fine, it has nothing to do with that. Its the transition of power and load and low speeds.
Only ever in first gear, not while changing gears.

I think I know what you're describing. If it's what I think it is, I had the same problem and thought that it was the U-joint.
If it's a click or pop when you're going into D or R or you hear it when you're driving slowly and suddenly let off the gas, the axles need servicing.
It's a common issue with our Ms and not too costly to fix... all labor and no parts necessary.

Check out my previous post on the fix:
