you shouldn't have removed the ram air, you are going to be sucking in hot air from the engine bay now giving you worse performance.

I'd wager that you picked up at least 20-40 horsepower from removing that ram.

you can still make power. and a versa is lighter then a mustang and more reliable in my oppion. but it doesnt hurt to gain a few more pony and free up some power that can be found. an intake will net you some power, and actually help your car breath better.

but just removing that, might not be a good idea. if you havent plug up the hole, you will be sucking up some hot air, but you would suck up more air, so it is a trade off.

There's no way to tell if it's more reliable than anything yet because the car has been out less than a year.

It won't hurt to remove the resonator, but I'd put a plug with a drain hole in it's place. It also acts as a catch tray for water entering the intake.

I did this on my motorcycle. It was nice for a while, but some annoying resonances developed at certian RPM"s while crusing on the freeway. SO it might sound nice around town but make the normal 3000+ RPM droning on the freeway worse. It's actually fialry quiet for a small car on hte freeway, I'd hate to spoil that. I think the engine has a nice sound as is. Better than my Corolla and the Honda Civic, but not as nice as my fiancee's Altima 2.5L.

I would reinstall the ram air bro.. because it helps to maintain the coldest possible airflow other then a AEM cold air intake kit does.

The intake setup is the same as on my dodge neon, taking off the ram air intake is only increasing your air intake temp making your car perform worse on warmer days..

doe's the versa have the dreaded drive-by wire??

i hate drivebywire with every fiber in my body!!

the versa look's more like a renault..

if you want an intake..go to pepboy's and make a real CAI with their spectre intake kits

I think it was said before that both steering and throttle were electronic. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Mostly correct.

By drive-by-wire, he means the throttle is completely electronic, there is no physical linkage (like a cable) between the throttle body and the gas pedal.

The Versa IS drive by wire (and hate to say it, TAK, almost all cars are going that route now... but I feel your pain)

The Versa also has an electric steering pump. The pump is powered by current generated by the alternator, but it is not controlled or actually steered by electronics. It is still a rack-and-pinion power assisted steering. The assist merely comes from an electric motor as opposed to an accessory belt. This is superior to the old setups IMO because assist is consistant at all speeds, where as at low speed a mechanical assist is not as powerful, so you need more force. A sudden increase in speed while turning is more likely to pull the car farther to the side, and cause a potential control problem... this doesn't happen on the electric system.

That was the best explanation of the difference in power assisted steering systems I've read. And it makes me like the V more, and be glad I don't have PS on my VW ('cause I don't need something else that can break).
