Mostly correct.
By drive-by-wire, he means the throttle is completely electronic, there is no physical linkage (like a cable) between the throttle body and the gas pedal.
The Versa IS drive by wire (and hate to say it, TAK, almost all cars are going that route now... but I feel your pain)
The Versa also has an electric steering pump. The pump is powered by current generated by the alternator, but it is not controlled or actually steered by electronics. It is still a rack-and-pinion power assisted steering. The assist merely comes from an electric motor as opposed to an accessory belt. This is superior to the old setups IMO because assist is consistant at all speeds, where as at low speed a mechanical assist is not as powerful, so you need more force. A sudden increase in speed while turning is more likely to pull the car farther to the side, and cause a potential control problem... this doesn't happen on the electric system.
