What determines how much boost you can run on California pump gas? I hear you shouldn’t run higher than 12psi on the stock turbo. If I got a bigger turbo would I be able to run even less boost on pump gas? I'm trying to make the most HP on pump gas. Would cams help that? What would be the best way to go to achieve that?

I'm going against my friend with a 92 Procharged TransAM at 9psi (400hp/550tq) 3400lb. Being able to run really fast on race gas is fine. I need to be able to win on the street. I'd prefer not to do any water injection.

big slicks, lsd, gt25r, bigger injectors, z32 maf, ecu reprogramming...

Really, you're competing with serious power here. Procharged T/As are fast, hell, na T/As are fast. I don't think you'll be able to beat him without serious mods

He's not done with it so I don't know what' he's gonna run. I doubt it'll be much faster then 12.8-13.3 or so. I just need to get down into the high 12s, but it HAS to be on pump gas. Getting it to be fast isnt the issue, it's getting it to do it without race gas that i'm not too sure about.

I'd rather see you lose the race then detonate.....u know what i mean......don't push it. I've ran 14-15psi on Unleaded 93...I only put Mobil gas and Mobil Synthetic Oil in my SR. but I've hit 15.4psi on my stock T-25 when I was figuring out my E-01 BC. I plan to run 21psi with my new turbo when i run at the track with OR without race gas. I never thought it was a problem. Just tune it right and have an effecient fuel setup. My buddies Supra has a T-88H with sick amounts of power....and I've seen him run upwards of 30psi on pump gas.....obviously he'll make more power with race gas but It can be done

There ya go, he nailed it. It all depends on tuning, if you want the most out of your car on pump gas buy a standalone or have it professionally tuned...or both.
