If you've seen/read my other thread you probly know about how this is going, but in case you haven't I'm 16 and this is my car, it runs ok, not great but I plan on building a new motor over summer...The paint might not look that bad but I'm missing almost all of the clear coat on the roof and some in other places...Those are some of the random dents and dings that were spread throughout the carSomewhere along the way I picked up a free KADE+all the accessories that came from the factory (don't have any pics of pre-stripped motor). It has a broken rod that knocked a hole in the block, but other than that the motor is in pristine condition... hoping to get it welded up by one of my dad's marine buddies Lately its just been loads and loads of body work, I plan on shooting primer this Sunday, and color next weekend... But anyways I'll be sure to post more pictures once the car is primed. As you can see I'm in desperate need of some coils, so if anyone wants to donate to my fund...

I clicked in here expecting an Endless Project Build of some sort...as in: http://www.endlessusa.com/

Your Nismo decal and wheels make me cringe, but not a bad start for 16 I guess, carry on.

Keep it up. nice start. Glad to see you doing up the body work first, while tearing down the motor.

Well it's been about a month since I've updated this but my car is finally painted!!! Since the last picture we turned our garage into a paint booth, masked off the car, and cleaned it up good enough to spray paint.

After that was done, the special not red bumper primer was shot

Followed by red final primer on the parts of the car where we had sanded through the previous layer of clear

After that the primer was sanded down and the orange peel was removed... Oh look there's me

Finally color was shot! ZOMG my dad!!

Sadly, there was water in the paint, so we had to shoot the roof twice... But o wells. Anyways on to the clear coat

We ended up with dreaded amounts of orange peel... So we spent about a week and a half color sanding and polishing the car

After all of our labor, this was the end result

Just for reminders, this is what the car looked like before:

^I just roll around with my a** on my creeper. lol.

Body work looks great!! I just finished up body work of my own. My car is sitting in my garage in primer right now waiting on my mechanical stuff to be done before I final coat.

It's hard to tell what it is... but I would guess Ford. Mustang?

So the block has a hole and you are going to repair it? Is cast iron even weldable? Keep up the good work the paint came out well.

I think so... My dad's friend at work said to go ahead and bring it over so if it doesn't work out then whatever, it was free.

Just look for a used block at a junk yard i wouldn't try to repair something that detrimental to your car imo. cars looking great though keep it up .

+1

Cast CAN be welded, but a junk block would be better. If you stick with the welded one, get the FSM, caliper, micrometer, etc. and measure EVERYTHING. The slightest inconsistencies can be detrimental.

I like the progress though, keep it up! Subscribed...

EDIT: Then again, you need to measure everything on any block... Keep stuff in mind like: main bearing and rod bearing sizes can vary, you should have a machine shop check to make sure the block and heads are still on a perfect plane, valve lift springs can lose tension over time, and valve jobs are GOOD!

Paint write up? Looking at this makes my wheels turn. Your block can be welded, that spot in the block only keeps oil contained, but it may be easier to just grab a block from somewhere cause it would suck to get it all together and have a problem shortly after. If you like the NISMO sticker keep it, in the end it yours and if everybody liked the same stuff we would all have that "Mars Attacks" hair due!!

Well I'm gonna start the "how to paint your car" write up in a little bit, but I took the car out for the first time today and it got sooo many looks. One asian guy showed the thing to his kid, even with the crazy ride hight haha. As for the block, I'm just gonna get it welded and go from there...
