Cast CAN be welded, but a junk block would be better. If you stick with the welded one, get the FSM, caliper, micrometer, etc. and measure EVERYTHING. The slightest inconsistencies can be detrimental.
I like the progress though, keep it up! Subscribed...
EDIT: Then again, you need to measure everything on any block... Keep stuff in mind like: main bearing and rod bearing sizes can vary, you should have a machine shop check to make sure the block and heads are still on a perfect plane, valve lift springs can lose tension over time, and valve jobs are GOOD!
