Can anyone tell me an easy and legal way to get some more HP out of my new G35? I have looked at the Tornado Fuel Saver who promises up to 13 HP more but I have heard they are a waist of time and money. Any other suggestions?

Well, why don't you decide what part you want to fail first, and how soon you want it to fail?

The engine is pretty well tuned as it is, so unless you can swap for 350 ZX parts to increase horsepower (at expense of area under the torque curve?), you will have to be more clever than the Nissan engineering staff.

If you can answer either or both of the first two questions, I am sure you will see many suggestions here.

you should be running premium fuel only! increasing octane will probably not help unless all you can find is sub 91.

Nissan engineers were a bit lax with the power of the G35 although it's still more powerfull then most in it's class. compared to the new 350 it has potential left over, but as far as I know that was all gained by hotter cams, exhaust and some other tricks. Now would probably not be the time to mess with such a new car.

Nothing I can think of on the market that will be worth the $$$ or threat to the warranty.

Most bang for the buck would be to plumba 50-shot of NOS, but you'd better make it removeable for those trips to the dealer...

As Dennis always says: If there were 20 more "hidden" hp bound up in your new car, just waiting to be magically freed from bondage by the addition of some "as-seen-on-TV" upgrade, that wouldn't negatively impact safety, emissions or driveability, you can be damn sure the engineers at Nissan would have already done it.

Someone's bound to come out with a reprogrammed ECU for it soon, so save your pennies.

BTW, welcome to NICO!!!! Where are you located? Got pix of the new ride?

There are a couple of firms starting develpoment work on a twin turbo package for the VQ35 (your engine).

This will add a LOT of power at the expense of losing your warranty and some $$ as well.

But to many this will be worth it.

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry no pics of the new ride. I'll try to get some and add them one here. I live in Indiana, just north of Indianapolis. I tell ya, I really like this car. It kicks you right in the you know what when you hit the pedal, looks great and did not cost an arm and leg like others in the category. I don't know I may be swaying from the boys at GM. This car just feels good!

Also welcome to NICO.We are pretty proud of our incredibly knowledgable Gurus, (which I am not:oface...), which we have to an extent not found on many other sites.

Please send pictures of your car to the "Send us pics of you ride" link on the top of this board.Include your name screename and a little writeup anbout, when, how, and why you bought your G35.

It will be posted in our members ride section.I dont think we have a G35 in there yet.

Don't let him fool you - Fred knows his stuff and has bailed my butt out more than once.

I drove one of the first G's to arrive in AZ and wrote a lengthy review of it (back on the Yahoo board). It'd be interesting to see if someone more computer-savvy than me could retrieve it and post it so we could see how it compares with your experience with the car.

Cool then I'm happy to be the first G35 guy in there. As you can see from my multiple questions I'm a novice. Please continue to be patient with my questions and thanks for all the help.

Make sure your G35 is drinking a diet of non oxygenated fuel [no MTBE or ethanol] since the BTU per gallon will be 3-5% less in these which won't allow it to reach its rated power.

You might study petro engine Chemistry to decide if xylene or toluene [boosters] can enhance your local fungible gasoline.

If you live in one of the bad areas or states move your G35 to a decent fuel area....maybe make your own gasoline. I'll bet in 500 gallon lots you can formulate it for less than $3.50 a gallon.

You could totally dissassemble you engine and measure everything to the 0.0001" and balance it to 1/4 gram since Nissan only uses a 1 gram spec. Your Piston crowns can be coated with GOLD heat reflective alloy as can the interior of your combustion chambers and exhaust manifolds. Make the engine absolutely perfect.

After spending $20,000 I'll bet you find another 25-30HP see why supercharging is becoming popular again ......a $5,000 investment yields more, easier! OBD2 doesn't allow any cam or header or ecu changes without reconducting about $250,000 worth of emission tests so few mods will be forthcoming that WORK ..........you can do anything you want infront of the MAF or after the cats.

The only mod I can think of that doesn't tamper with the warranty or have an adverse affect on your car is a K&N air filter. Supposedly the oil from the filter can get on your MAF sensor, but I've had a K&N for 3 years, no problems. It won't do much, maybe 3hp at the most at WOT but for $30 every little bit counts right?

BTW, Welcome to the club, errr, I mean family. Just like any old family, we have the ever-present, cynical, wise anchor, Q45tech and other regulars who chime in every once in a while ie Greg_Atlanta, AZHitman, etc. We also have our fair share of ricers (JeffTrexler, Palmrwnd) whose soul purpose seems to be beating up on helpless Civics with fart pipes. j/k guys :D And then there's guys like me, who couldn't offer a minutia of advice if you ever had any questions. All kidding aside, the guys here are a very knowledgeable bunch (at least in the Infiniti forums) and are just a bunch of swell, all-around guys. If you have questions and you can't find answers here, you won't find them anywhere.
