I've found a 300zx N/A Slicktop. Is it really lighten for racing or is the guy bull****ting me and just didn't get the t-top option? I personally like the non t-top but t-tops are cool too. You just have to stand the sun.

Ok i've been looking around Cali. for 90+ Z's under 4,500. And i've had a little luck. One is about 10 minutes away. I've looked at it already though and im not sure what to think. Its a N/A white 5-speed 1992 i think and has about 147,XXX. I runs, but after listening by the exaust, misfires on right side.(could be simple fix). But big problem for me, cut off cat. converters. And you know how Cali. smog patrol is.Could be simple fix but i cant weld and you legally cant sell a car without smogging it.

Isn't registered in his name or insured and he is still paying off D.U.I.'s and speeding tickets.

It looks pretty good from the pictures. But when I showed up to view the car, the guy wasn't there. And as I was walking away, the guy drifts around the corner in a residential street and pulls up and shuts the car off. Leather seats ripped, and anti-theft light will not go off and alarm will sound if you unlock the door from the inside without the remote. Crack in front air-dam/bumper. Crack in tail-lights. He's says he'd go down to 3,200 because he needs to pay for driving school. Drifting in residential streets... probably needs drivers school.... or a race track.

Good buy??? What if i talk him down to 2,500????

Anyways, If anyone has or knows of any 300zx's for sale under $4,500 in Cali. Get to my email [email protected]

Thanks

yes the slicktop is lighter and more desirable to race with it reduced wieght and stiffer chassis for lack of t-tops, just depends or if YOU want t-tops or not, the slicktop looks to be real clean and well cared for, the white one.....well... I guess you already know, you are looking at a lot of potential time energy and money to fix all that this guy has ragged, worn out, abused and neglected, how much of a project do you want?

thats the problem. I want something that i could just get in and drive and earn money to do aftermarket mods.

But if i could get one for cheaper than 4k and fix it and still have money left over. That would be a plus. Like exaust is okay. I'd buy a whole new system. But replacing head gaskets, rings, seals.... all those little, cheap but tuff things is hard for me. Though as much as i love working on cars, I need one to just get in and go to work and make it my own.

If you can't get a convertible, the "Slick Top" is the only way to go!!!

Just kidding.....

They do look better though....
