Okay, i am a chevy guy, and a budy of mine has been talking about doing a VG30de to a twin turbo swap in his 93 300zx. I have a very good understanding of how to do a swap. we are also going to do a full build on the engine. this is going to be a $8000 plus swap. The questions that i have are: How much of my big block motor swap expereince in domestic cars is going to come in handy doing this job, or is it a completely different animal, and also who are the good e-tailers, and ebay stores to buy parts from? Are target is a 450 wheel hp car, that is daily reliable. Also, i am thinking of going with a 350z transmission and rear end. What kind of backwards compatibilty do these parts have on the older 300 bodys?

Any experience that you have will be helpful.

450whp is easy and won't be hard or expensive to achieve.

As for buying parts, stay away from ebay. For Z specific parts check with our sponsors : http://www.nicoclub.com/addirectory.shtml and browse through the classified forum : zeroforum/43

As for using the 350Z transmission and rear end......why? Would require unnecessary and extensive work and wouldn't offer any benefit what so ever.

Best of luck with the swap!

i recenttly did the swap. the stoch internals will handle 500 reliably. you can get over 400 with an ecu, exhaust, down pipes, intake, and a boost controler.

okay, if 450 or 500hp is that easy with just bolt ons, what is new internals, knife edged crank, lightened flywheel, bored and honed to 89mm, decked and milled block, bigger turbos, 555injectors, 5 angle valves, custom valave and intake work, custom exhaust manifold, JWT ECU, water injection, bigger intercooler with a halo, and a completely matched and blueprinted engine gonna get me? I was shooting for 500 at a max, mostly to keep it reliable. But we made a shopping list, and a priority list, and from what people are telling, im gonna way over shoot my mark. One guy that just happens to hang out at my bar, was saying im looking more like 650 with everything i want to do.

and sense everyone ios telling me stock drive line will hold alot of power, how much power will it hold?

and at what point (what hp number) does the car become unreliable?

unless you engine needs work stick with the basic path, intake exhaust, ecu, and boost (jets, manual controller, electronic controller, larger actuators, external adjustable wastegates, whatever your preferred method) as stated this can get you to nearly 400 whp, at which point the injecotrs , turbo's and i/c's are all pretty well maxed out, upsizing those will buy you 500 whp before you need to worry about the stock pistons, everythign else is just while your at it, or to better maximaze somethgn else, me I dislike the MFIC's,a dn the halo's are useless unless on a street car, water injection also useless on a street car, it's great if you want to keep filling it especially if your not running intercoolers

another question: doe the 555cc injectors work with the stock injection system, or does the whole system have to be changed to go to the 555cc ones? Also, has anyone ever seen or built a ram air for one of these cars? I think it would just be cool. last thing, does anyone know of a gauge system that gives RS232 feedback?

to run the 555's you ahve to have the ecu remapped for the larger injectors, otherwise you are running 30% more fuel at all times, including idle............ this is bad

ram air, nope havn't seen it, and I think it would be hard to do it and not have ti look cheezy, you'd need to add a scop between the headlights of if you want down with it you'd restrict air to the radiator
