My friend wanted me to ask NICO for some help on his 2007 camry xle. He has already taken it to Toyota to get his pedal fixed but has come across some more issues.1. The hood opens by its self while driving2. The VSC light keeps coming on

yes, but here is the thing. My friend had this happen to him once (this has happened more than 5 times) while he was driving past his local Toyota dealer. He took it in to see what the problem was, and they wouldn't look at it for free. Toyota was going to charge him $100 to diagnose his car. Now if this had happened to me, and I drove into the Nissan service center they would have checked the QX4 out for free.

So report the dealer to Toyota, get them in trouble.

Hah. This goes to show you why Toyota is having more problems with sales. They should be giving all of their customers hugs, and not charging them for diagnostics.

What could possibly make a hood open while driving besides a broken latch?

Do all the kids where you're from get nice cars? I had a 250,000 mile Subaru that leaked about a quart a week until I bought my Z. Must be nice having everything provided for you....

Seriously. I thought I was lucky as hell to get a hand-me-down 5 year old Accord that had been in a fairly major front-end collision (though just barely not enough to total it).

Fortunately, there's tons of Toyota dealers everywhere. If you want resolution, clean yourself up and ask to talk to a manager. Otherwise, post a negative review on Google and find another place.

I don't know why I keep answering your threads. Perhaps I have this weird hope you'll take the advice. I must be sick.

1a. The pedal fix., Hello moron, many Nissans have had recalls. My Alti had three of them. Doesn't make them bad cars.1. There are two separate hood lock mechanisms. Your friend probably did not close the hood the last time hard enough to engage both locks.2. The VSC light normally comes on when the VSC is activated. And that happens when one drives aggressively enough to engage it. Your friend might as well come clean and fess up if he was goofing around when the light came on. If that's the case, it's like complaining about premature tire wear after an hour of burnouts. But if it just randomly came on, then he should get it checked. As far as the dealer. Jesda had it right, there are other dealers in your area. He could always try another one. But if he had any balls when the first service advisor said it was $100 charge for plugging in to read the code, he should have asked for the manager as the car is still under warranty.

My LS has a plastic hood release lever rather than a traditional cable pull. It's in a TERRIBLE spot and I hook it with my Nimitz-class shoes all the damn time. It's quiet, too so a lot of the time I don't notice it right away.

here's an idea, tell your friend to create an account on toyotanation and stop bothering us with his issues. he's making you do his dirty work for him and what's worse, is that you're asking for info on a toyota on a nissan forum. get a clue, would ya?
